Re: More OBJ models
Hi Polantis team,

I'm glad you finally chose to open your model database to the non professional public and give a better support to the models you offer at OBJ format. In case you didn't know, please notice that this format was one of the first supported by Sweet Home 3D because it's simply one of the format (partially) supported in Java 3D library itself. So this choice is not bound to a professional / non professional usage, and anyway I don't see anything interesting in opposing professional to non professional public about a file format.
As the developer of an open source software, I'm more concerned about whether a file format is free or proprietary, or said an other way, whether I can write an open source program that will be able to read or write files at such a file format with no legal concern. For example, I'm perfectly aware that the DWG file format is widely used in the 3D modeling world, but this format seems to be still proprietary from this long legal issues description. Convince me this is not true, provide me the specifications of the DWG file format and I may try to support it in Sweet Home 3D.
By the way, note that the open DAE/Collada format is well supported by Sweet Home 3D, Sketchup and Google Warehouse too. If it's easier for you, you could choose to add support for this file format.

I sincerely hope you'll be able to understand the point of view of an open source developer. As we're both French, feel free to contact me or phone me if you need more details.
