Polantis is a free service and at the time our only aim was to serve Architecture professionals. Hence the reply you got at the time. But now these days are over. :-) Puybaret: I am well aware of the open source issue. I know all about that. We did not try "opposing professional to non professional public about a file format" The reason why .dwg was preferred over .obj + .mtl is simply because statistically, more architects use .dwg than .obj in fact, the ratio would be something like 97% dwg / 3% obj. Since at the time (and up until recently) the site was designed only with architects in mind, we didn't really pay much attention to .obj. We are now working on .dae as well. And we are trying to mount an industrial procedure for attaching textures to objects. I'd be interested in talking with you about the possibilities, I'll contact you soon. :-) I hope we could help your community, I think SweetHome3D is a great tool. |
