Re: I can't open preferences Rosario, On the Download page you can download installable versions for 32 bits and 64 bits versions of Linux. I use the 64 bits version, and it works fine with (L)Ubuntu 11.10. If you have problems, try uninstalling ALL versions of Java on your computer (Sun Java and Iced Tea).
