Floor/Step
New user here, first of all, would like to say what a fantastic piece of software this is!...A big thank you to the developers :)

My home is quite simple, but the first 3/4 of my home is elevated a step up from the back room (ie about 200mm). Reading the user guides and multi level tutorials, I am still in two minds about how to approach this.

One idea I had was to create a slab (say 10m x 30m with a thickness of 100mm) and then place a second shorter slab on top (ie 10m x 20m with a thickness of 200mm)...thus emulating the step down to the back room...when I say slab I mean using the 'box' object.

This works well in the 3d view...however when I draw the walls over the second slab, the interior walls, doors, windows etc aren't visible in the 2D view...as the box, being defined as 'furniture' takes precedence over the other objects...and thus it is off putting when i am trying to complete the rest of the house. Is there a workaround to this or am i missing something?

Or will I better off creating two separate floors? To create a second level seems overkill just to create a single step.

Also, to create a simple flat ceiling...do I use a box object to create one?

Thanks
