Use the Compass to set geographical location (Plan -> Modify compass or double-click the compass)
Click the compass and use the handle to change north orientation.
Set time and date in the photo or video window. Don't forget to remove the check mark in front of Add ceiling lights.

Use the Help function to learn about unknown functions.

If you want to see individual blades of grass, you have to use a 3D grass model. I found one in the Sketchup Warehouse, which I modified heavily (mainly reducing the size of the images). Even when I managed to reduce the overall size by more than 50%, you would still add approx. 1 MB for 1 m2 of grass. Not counting the inevitable delay in rendering. Here is another one which you will have to convert to DAE format.
