Re: Adding Room Steps, Wainscoting and Roofs
1) Using a shape as a "floor" is one way. An intermediate level (elevation 8" above the lower) is another. You should find more about this in the forum, for instance:4785 Room Elevation & Curved Boundaries and 5507 Raised floor
2) If you use a recent edition of SH3D, walls have a baseboard option - which can work as a simple wainscoting. But there is also the possibility to use textures or other models - try a forum search for wainscoting. But narrow box (or double wall) can also do the trick.
3) Yes, a roofs do not have to increase file size by much. The roof construction is pretty simple, and a good looking texture does not have to be big at all. For instance, some simplistic roof files in SourceForge3d models 333 are very small. And you could easily get away with a very small graphic file as roof texture - and it would still look good. In fact, there is not that much to gain from using large graphic files, 512x512 pixels will usually do.
