Re: Two-Story Double Jack-and-Jill Home
I've taken another look at the house and have made some changes (after saving as a second file).

Screenshots of the new arrangement, both floors. As you can see it's still a long way from completion, and the atrium area is now gone. Not only that, but it is now quite rightly named a "Double Jack-And-Jill".

A new look at the Great room. I've moved the Study to where part of the atrium had been and opened up that area to extend the Great room. That area is now an area to watch TV separately from the main area but yet still a part of it... if that makes sense. I was thinking that with so many people living in this house that some would want to watch TV while others might night, but would still like to be in the same general area.

Also, I changed the layout a bit on the next level enough that I could open it up to look down into the Great room. I don't but I think it's pretty interesting. Maybe I should put another staircase leading up to the next level near the extra seating area?

A small disclaimer about the fireplace (as seen in the second picture): I didn't see a texture that I could use for the extension (the part that is now exposed because of the opening of the next floor) that was similar to that used in the fireplace so they don't quite look the same. I did think of maybe just making the extension the same as the wall color but that looked even worse.

I also moved the breakfast nook out of the kitchen and into the rest of what had been the atrium area (I'm still working on this) which meant I had more room for storage and counter space. In moving the breakfast nook out of the kitchen also saw my need to adjust what was already there - as well as adding another ceiling light since the pendant that was over the breakfast nook left the room with the breakfast nook. laughing
