You have to be really careful how you group things or they will appear in the 2D and 3D level views unexpectedly. I wish there were an item modify dialog box property to assign them to a certain level of your choosing. This would be particularly useful for items and shapes that are meant to be viewed in one level but it's starting elevation is lower and is thus displayed by default in the below level; i.e. a sloping stairway ceiling that starts at the lower level's ceiling height. If there was a split 3D polygon tool that could be useful too so that you could slice or shear them cleanly off between levels, or if there was a toggle to make the 3D view display would do that automatically.
