But remove the wave, it's unnatural to have straight waves in a small pool that intersect with circled ripples. I also think you need to find something else for the circles to get a more natural effect. Ripples in water are never perfectly round. Only a drop in perfectly still standing water will cause close to perfect circles.

I think a combination of different circles would work better because different objects cause different ripples. For example the ladder should only show very small and partial circles, it doesn't move to cause big ripples, it only disturbs touching ripples.
Ripples also continue to the sides of the pool with increasingly subtle waves and only fade out to nothing if the pool is big enough.
