Convert to Autocad or DWG or DXF Hi all, I'm trying to send my drawing to a structural engineer but he needs to import it to autocad to view it. How do I do convert the file for him to import? Thanks in advance :-) |

Re: Convert to Autocad or DWG or DXF Did you follow the link I sent you, and read the article on Rea-converter? H ---------------------------------------- Hans new website - under constuction hansdirkse.info |

Re: Convert to Autocad or DWG or DXF Hi. I did. When I output to OBJ, I get many files including on OBJ and many PNG and jpg. I select the OBJ in Rea-converter and it converts. Then I open it with Autodesk DWG Truview, but it's a bunch of vector lines and not usable. What am I doing wrong? |

Re: Convert to Autocad or DWG or DXF This is the wrong forum to ask questions on Rea. Maybe search for a different method, or try a DXF converter. SH3D was never meant to produce files for those programs. H ---------------------------------------- Hans new website - under constuction hansdirkse.info |

Re: Convert to Autocad or DWG or DXF I've tried still can't get it to create a file that retains the 3d structure and measurements and can be used in an autocad setting. |

Re: Convert to Autocad or DWG or DXF Autocad is a program with a proprietary file sytem, kind of a black box. Talk to your engineer and ask him/her to install SH3D. H ---------------------------------------- Hans new website - under constuction hansdirkse.info |

Re: Convert to Autocad or DWG or DXFThis is a hugely serious problem for the program. So much better to have the necessary file conversions built in. Should have been some sort of open format. We waste a huge amount of time learning a new program and then creating a drawing no one can use. I'd be happy with a simple 2D file export in a usable format. These appear to be the ones that Autocad can handle: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autoca...s-can-AutoCAD-import.html I'm going to try to print to PDF and see if that works. (Of course, a person who is conversant in Autocad will not want to install SH3D.) |

Re: Convert to Autocad or DWG or DXF SH3D format is opened, not DWG or DXF formats which are proprietary file formats. Ask to Autodesk to support SH3D format, like some other editors did (like Live Home 3D). Meanwhile, don’t use Sweet Home 3D if it doesn’t fit your needs! ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |
