Reflection on lighting 3D view By default, the 3D view uses Java3D lights to simulate ambient lighting because they do not cast shadows. In the Light class, it is stated that Java 3D only supports an arbitrary number of lights. Does that mean that it would not be possible to render a complex scene? In this thread, a trick is used to take these additional lights into account. ---------------------------------------- EnkoNyito |

Re: Reflection on lighting 3D view The current method addShadowOnFloor, does not take into account the direction of the sun. Are there simpler cast shadow techniques to implement as the shadow mapping ? ---------------------------------------- EnkoNyito |

Re: Reflection on lighting 3D view If there was a simpler way, I think I would have tested that a long time ago… Shadow mapping is probably not so complicated for one light source, but I fear that some graphics drivers won’t support shaders so well. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |
