2D view
Hiall, I'm sorry this might be a stupid question but I can't find a way to show a 2D view with all the forniture... Is this maybe not possible in SH3D?

I am talking about something like this https://it.habcdn.com/photos/project/big/planimetria-arredata-346418.jpg or even more simple.

When using 3D, you can't always easily check all the proportions and distances between forniture.

Thanks!

Re: 2D view
I'm not sure to understand what you mean. Check the plans shown in the gallery, you'll see most of them look like the one you pointed to, when you select the Top view option in the preferences pane.

Re: 2D view
Getting back to SH3D after a couple of years, I unbelievably can't do this again. Either the software has changed with the upgrades and can't find "top view" option any more, or I just aged and got dumb :-|

Re: 2D view
Should have probably specified I am under Linux. Found out that it is related to Java ("top view" couldn't be clicked).

I had to run the SH3D java launcher, which wasn't booting, and had to run ulimit -n 10000 before SH3D java, following what is suggested in this thread:

I'm on Linux too. Make sure you start Sweet Home 3D with the SweetHome3D-Java3D-1_5_2 script.

Re: 2D view
Yeah, that's how I started making in through.

Should I then uninstall SH3D from the repositories? Or does it come with Java3D script too?

The repository has an old version. Download the latest version from the download page . Extract the .tgz file where you want and create a launcher with the SweetHome3D-Java3D-1_5_2 script. If needed you can add the ulimit command in that script.
There is a SweetHome3DIcon.png in the extracted directory where the script is that you can use as the launcher icon.
When a new version appears simply download and extract in a new directory. That way you can have multiple versions to test the latest version without losing your previous install. Ignore the install from the repository.

You might want to add these to the java command in the script:
-Duser.name=username which uses 'username' when you create a furniture library and sets it as the designer name in .sh3d project files. If you don't, the machine username is used which you probably don't want to show if you share files.
-Xmx6g sets a higher limit to the amount of memory Sweet Home 3D can use. Read more about it on FAQ page (heading "How can I adjust the memory used by Sweet Home 3D?")
My java command starts like this: "exec "$PROGRAM_DIR"/runtime/bin/java -Duser.name=Keet -Xmx12g ..."
Notice that the java version supplied in the downoad is used.

Make sure you install the Plugins Manager plugin. Using that plugin it's very easy to install and update other plugins. A must-have plugin is the AdvancedEdit plugin, you can check the other available plugins in the list and install them with a few clicks.
