Magnetism cm instead of mm it is really hard to move objects and build walls in mm steps. I would like to use cm steps. That would be accurate enough and would be much easier to handle. is there a way to set up that configuration? |

Re: Magnetism cm instead of mm If you zoom out, you’ll see that measures are less and less precise. Would that be enough? ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: Magnetism cm instead of mm hi, not quite. in other words: I would like to edit walls in cm steps with the mouse. in version 7.0 my mouse movement produces mm steps on x and y axis. 1cm steps would be much easier to handle. (or 0,5cm) Is there a way to set the x-y Grid to cm steps? |

Re: Magnetism cm instead of mm hi, not quite. in other words: I would like to edit walls in cm steps with the mouse. in version 7.0 my mouse movement produces mm steps on x and y axis. 1cm steps would be much easier to handle. (or 0,5cm) Is there a way to set the x-y Grid to cm steps? You're probably the first one who asks for less precision You achieve exactly what you want with the zoom level as Emmanuel explained. Each mouse step gets bigger the further you zoom out. So zoom out and your steps get less precise, i.e. from 1mm, to 2mm, 0.5cm, 1cm, etc. The same happens for the arrow key steps, those too depend on the zoom level. A quicker way is to set the length with "Distance between endpoints" (wall property window). The wall stretches in the direction of the wall (the little arrows displayed on the wall). If you want to stretch in the other direction first reverse the wall direction (wall context menu). ---------------------------------------- Dodecagon.nl 1300+ 3D models, manuals, and projects |

Re: Magnetism cm instead of mm hi, I tried to construct 2 walls with diffrent zoom (about zoomfactor 2) and the walls have exacly the same weird ",1 cm" measurements. I think the magnetism could be better if it would snap to a 1cm grid. - at least for me. I try to upload screenshots. the two walls are build by mouse and are exacltly the same, but build in diffrent zoom levels. Re: Magnetism cm instead of mm If you want precise measurements, you should try to enter values while you draw walls, by pressing <enter> key. See help for more details. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: Magnetism cm instead of mm yes, I use your suggestion as a workaround. There is potential to make that more comfortable without to have to do that. Maybe you might be able to add an option "use 0/1/2 decimal". With that option I would not have to edit with enter. https://bilderupload.org/bild/24f081752-screenshot-2022-11-11-164 regards :) |

Re: Magnetism cm instead of mm or is that a bug, that walls don´t snap to the grid? |

Re: Magnetism cm instead of mm Maybe you might be able to add an option "use 0/1/2 decimal". With that option I would not have to edit with enter. There's a simpler solution, ignore decimals when you read them! There's no snap to the grid and there won't. Walls in real life don't snap to a grid. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: Magnetism cm instead of mm so my future workaround will be, if I want to use the grid properly, i have to set up the first wall directly to 0/0 on the grid. so the first room can be attached to 0/0. like this: from now on, every wall will be easier to read in the decimals. hach, we Germans, everything has to be in order :D thx for your time. I think I understand the reasons behind your explanation (snap to grid would be really annoying since too many options would appear) thx! I must not forget: very helpful programm! PS: finally a working screenshot... |
