Video production with Sweet home 3D Hi, I have been working with Sweet Home 3D for many years now, and I have always been a bit discouraged by the abrupt movements and stops that I get from from the camera when making video presentations, which is something I do quite often. Then some weeks ago I stumbled across a little trick, which I of course shared at the bar, where I was encouraged to tell more about this trick. So I have created a long post with lots of illustrations on how I make movements and create videos with SH3D, where the full-length Telda-video with surround sound will also appear. But I still keep finding mistakes here and there, both in the text, the readability and image links that suffers from misspelling and don't work. I don't want to publish until I am absolutely sure everything is OK. This post is also a check to see if links from my ftp-server works now, and that my videos are coded correctly so they can be streamed directly in the browser. From the preview here I know that it works with the Opera browser, but I can't check any of the others until I have published. Therefore; here is an excerpt from the 3 min 45 sec long video I made for SH3D, a video showing examples of both moving objects and camera movements, as well as the sceneries and lighting made with SH3D. And of course the film itself also offers A STORY - a story that is not revealed in this short outtake: TeldaExcerpt Xiste |

Re: Video production with Sweet home 3D Thank you all for your feedback! I am a bit busy with other projects and hoping to get permission to edit my posts, since the next is a very complex one about how I made this video, and there will be mistakes. |

Re: Video production with Sweet home 3D I am a bit busy with other projects and hoping to get permission to edit my posts, since the next is a very complex one about how I made this video, and there will be mistakes. If I'm not mistaking you can edit your posts up to two or three days after the initial post.If the post is that complex and large you could split it into multiple posts. First creating it in a word processor offers you grammar and typo checks. Even better would be to export that as a pdf. You can update the pdf with every change you make. ---------------------------------------- Dodecagon.nl 1300+ 3D models, manuals, and projects |

Re: Video production with Sweet home 3D If I'm not mistaking you can edit your posts up to two or three days after the initial post. So I have 3 days? That's perfect! I haven't been in here for some years, so I didn't know that. Thank you so much! If the post is that complex and large you could split it into multiple posts. First creating it in a word processor offers you grammar and typo checks. Even better would be to export that as a pdf. You can update the pdf with every change you make. It is not as simple as spelling and grammar problems. Besides; spellchecks are useless for checking syntax on image-names. No, the post is complicated in the sense that it might not be explaining things that to me are obvious, but for some can be impossible to grasp. In my line of work I am frequently approached by students that need a more instructive explanation – sometimes on the same level as telling me I forgot to mention that you must remove the cover before you can play a vinyl record, but mostly they refer to my use of technical terminology. So then I insert a specification in my papers. You yourself, in you comment, hit the nail on the head: If I had been more specific in my post, you would not have suggested checking spelling and grammar. It might be a good idea to split it up, as you suggest, but immediate thoughts are that referencing will be a bit more complicated if I split it up. You see, changing things in a later post might lead to changes in one of the earlier posts. But I shall think about it some more. I could make tree sections, one for the initial work with planning, research, sketching and storyboards. Then one for the work I do in SH3D, and lastly one for the postproduction. And then create reference links between the three of them. Might be a good idea. Thank you again, and keep up the good work of sharing your knowledge and expertise on the forum. Xiste Yes, there is indeed a little "Edit"-button on top of the comment. I seem to remember it being on the bottom, and only for those who were allowed to edit. So I thought I had lost my privileges... |

Re: Video production with Sweet home 3D Hi Xiste! WOW! I think what you are showing here has never been done quite like this before, not with SweetHome only. I have used the moving camera many times, as you know from watching my old video, but the retarding effect is awesome. Can't wait for your tutorial on this. And I have tried to figure out how you made the shadows. I guess two renderings? Am I wrong? The light is beautiful. Did you render with IBL only? I like it that you are using some of my models :). I understand this is a short excerpt. Looking forward to see the rest. I see lots of nice things have happened here while I have been in childbirth and had twins. I will be more active in the future. Wish you a lovely evening. Cec |

Re: Video production with Sweet home 3D Hi CEC! And thanks again for your donation. Your models are amazingly detailed and very useful. The shadows, yes, funny you noticed, but you are right. A bit difficult because of the green-screen, so the shadows couldn't be so soft that they became muddy. Keying is not perfect and makes bandings in progressions, which looks muddy. Big triple panel lights, far,far in the background, did the trick. Yes, I rendered with moon symbol and sky-light, trying to get a softer image. The sunlight in SH3D is far too strong, and it produces very dark shadows, that's why I chose a cloudy sky with a white top. The dilemma was that with a cloudy sky you really don't get any shadows on a cloudy day, so I had to fake it. Without shadows things seemed to be floating. The shadows glued the objects to the ground. But you already know this from our earlier discussions. Thanks for your comment, and again thank you so much for donating your models! Enjoy your day! X |
