Re: Export Plan Image v1.1 I've test it and it work as you say. That was the good part. I continue with less good parts: 1. In .properties file you specified this: - Export Plan to Image and version=1.0 That's mean it's a different plugin at first version. (The last version was Export plan to image and version=1.0.3) 2. You've made a good addition with inch and cm BUT I suggest you to use the measure system set by SH3D. Take a look at ShapeGenerator or TerrainGenerator how to do this. I hope to not upset you. ---------------------------------------- A computer program does what you tell it to do, not what you want it to do. Murphy's Law When all else fails, read the instructions. Re: Export Plan Image v1.1 Hello 1. Corrected to (version=1.1) also in in Sourceforge 2. Many users go back and forth between US and Metric systems, specially when it comes to paper/print, to have a better idea of sizes. https://www.mediafire.com/file/y92q2gnxtf9kb8z/ExportPlanImage-1.1b.sh3p/file More interesting Plugins in the making ... Truly appreciate the feedback :-) ---------------------------------------- Windows 64bit | Intel i7 | 8GB Ram | SH3D 7.5 + Plugins |

Re: Export Plan Image v1.1 @2. I do it often but I use especially the fraction inch. Usually I use the metric system but, some time, I've have metrics with many decimals when I try to be precise in measurements. At this point I switch to fractional inch and I receive more simple dimensions like 4' or 3'1/2. Why's that? The production of construction supplies still use the imperial system for their products and they use simple numbers like 3'x5' or whatever. Considering this, a plugin idea, is to have a local calculator or unit converter. ---------------------------------------- A computer program does what you tell it to do, not what you want it to do. Re: Export Plan Image v1.1 Why's that? It depends on what site you use for looking up dimensions. Most of the world uses construction supplies in metric, it is only a few countries that use imperial. Unfortunately a lot of the sites with those dimensions are from the USA where they use the imperial system. The production of construction supplies still use the imperial system for their products and they use simple numbers like 3'x5' or whatever. Choose an European site and you will get dimensions in metric. ---------------------------------------- Dodecagon.nl 1300+ 3D models, manuals, and projects |

Re: Export Plan Image v1.1 I previously had version "ExportPlanImage-1.0.2". Unfortunately, the new version of the plugin doesn't work for me. When I click "export plan to image" in the Tools menu, nothing happens. No new window opens. If it matters, I use the metric system and the Polish language. The plugin is great! The only feature I’m missing is a checkbox that allows including or excluding the background plan image. Thanks you. |

Re: Export Plan Image v1.1 It depends on what site you use for... I'm partially disagree with you:1. I don't use sites, I buy directly from shops. 2. Common study of case: drywall 4x8 compared with 1219.2mm x 2438.4mm or 4x12 compared with 1219.2mm x 3657.6mm You have to memorize 12 digits in place of 2 or 3. More than that you will find exposed something like this: 1.2m x 2.4m or 1.2m x 3.7m and when you went home you realize is too much or not enough. 3. The same things happening with furniture. ---------------------------------------- A computer program does what you tell it to do, not what you want it to do. Re: Export Plan Image v1.1 1. I don't use sites, I buy directly from shops. Shops in Romania size building materials in feet/inches? If I go to a shop here in the Netherlands I won't find any measurement in imperial. Literally everything is in metric, and metric only. That includes wood and drywall dimensions. For what it's worth, luckily the materials themselves are the same size, whether they are sold in imperial or metric sizes. For example a sheet of plywood here is 122cmx244cm or the equivalent in imperial 4'x8'. It seems that the physical sizes are standardized world wide. Your mixed usage of imperial and metric should not be a problem for this, besides some number conversions. In general the sizes of raw building materials aren't exactly... exact ![]() ---------------------------------------- Dodecagon.nl 1300+ 3D models, manuals, and projects |

Re: Export Plan Image v1.1 If I go to a shop here in the Netherlands I won't find any measurement in imperial. Probably you've right. In Romania is the same except plumbing supplies.(Indeed nobody know what mean and from where come from the notations on the supplies. Like 1/2 or 3/4. All they know is if is not the same will don't feet each other). Doesn't meter what it writhe on them, the real size is in architectural system(to be politically correct). For me it's not necessarily a problem but a logical explanation when something in meters wont feet in a house(room). Also it explain me way there are so many decimals in place of a round number. The subject is too vast and complicated, so every one on his road. ---------------------------------------- A computer program does what you tell it to do, not what you want it to do. Re: Export Plan Image v1.1 Here is a little gadget. A very small Metric<>Imperial Calculator in html/css/javascript. You can run it local without internet connection. With html/css/javascript you have all the source code which allows you to change it every way you like. Metric<>Imperial Calculator When you have set Imperial as your Sweet Home 3D preference and you import a model or add it from the catalog: make sure you have magnetism off. After import you can switch magnetism on again. If you import with magnetism on then Sweet Home 3D does an automatic conversion to imperial which changes the original dimensions of the model. (obj files contain metric numbers.) This can cause problems with aligning multiple models from a series. This happened with a member that works with imperial and encountered strange alignment problems with my kitchen models. Dragging the models from the catalog with magnetism off solved the problem. ---------------------------------------- Dodecagon.nl 1300+ 3D models, manuals, and projects |

Re: Export Plan Image v1.1 I'll try the plugin and comment afterwards. I think it's good to have something like that rather than taking screenshots. The measurement system itself isn't that important, although I mostly use metric, and very rarely imperial. |
