sad   In Mac OSX program "hangs" when I go to move an object
When I start up 3D, everything is OK, but after a while, every time I move something or go to re-size, the Apple "busy ball" comes on for two to three minutes a time. I can do nothing. It is obviously affecting other parts of the system, as it takes a long time to switch to another application. If I use the Activity Monitor on OSX, 3d is shown as not responding. Highly annoying, sad as it takes forever to do any work at all.

Could you describe your computer and the version of Sweet Home 3D you use?
What do you mean by move or resize something? Do you mean move or resize a piece of furniture, a wall, a room, or the window itself?

Re: In Mac OSX program "hangs" when I go to move an object
My computer is an IMAC 1 GB OSX 10.6.5. When I resize a wall or door, or whatever, or go to resize a object, I get the spinning beach ball. The version of 3d is 3.0, and I have also tried 2.6, and this happens on both versions. I just had a look at the model, and it says it is 59.8 MB. This seems exceedingly large, as there is not many objects on it. I can forward it if you like.

Terry,

If you share your file, I'd be happy to have a look at it.

You must have imported a model that Sweet Home 3D has problems with it.
If you find which one, please tell us.

this sounds like a problem i've encountered as well. when you use ActivityMonitor, the select the tab for Memory Usage. the Diagramm shows green coloured parts as free Memory, and yellow for used. you probably run out of green wink
which means MacOS X is busy swapping memory to HD.

I don't have a web site to share this file, but can email to those interested.

Terry,

And you seem to have trouble following links that say share ...?

Re: In Mac OSX program "hangs" when I go to move an object
I'm new to Sweet Home 3D. I just started playing with it over the weekend to plan out a basement remodel. I'm enjoying it, but I have come up to a problem similar to this thread.

In my case I have 6 GB in my MacBook Pro. I don't get the beach ball. What I do see is a lot of the models (OBJ) that I have either downloaded (from Google's 3D warehouse) or pulled from this site cause issues.

For instance, some can't be deleted from my plan. Some of those keep me from deleting anything from the plan. A poor workaround is to copy the items I want to a new file and then things seem to work (and I avoid the object). In other cases a save, close and re-open clears up the delete issue for all of the other objects.

Thoughts? Is there a way to reset my object library to the one that installs with the program?

One additional item I just noticed is that it may be tied to editing the properties of the object (size, name, etc.).
