lights question I have a question about using the lights in SH3D 3.0: When I render the scene (using the Best or next to Best setting) There is now a huge light/white spot on the ceiling. I used the Halogen light (the same light that was used for the beta tests) and have it set to 25% power. I hadn't noticed the spot on the ceiling caused by the light before. Is that a new problem? I'll have to play around with the other lights to see if that still happens. I'll attach a rendered pic to show you. ---------------------------------------- |

Re: lights question That was unchecked already. I can attach a screenshot of that if you like. |

Re: lights question pencilart, Indeed, lights tend to show bright white spots on ceilings, especially if the light is placed closed to the ceiling. There are a few things you can do: - place the light lower, obviously; - make the light larger, so that it seems softer; - make your ceiling (and walls) Matte so that the bright spot is not, or less, visible. Re: lights question ok, I'll try those things. Thanks! Edit: the light is now 4 feet 6 inches (I guess that means from the floor?) the ceiling was already set to matt the light is now huge, lol, but it does now look softer. ---------------------------------------- |

Re: lights question Wouldn't you have forgotten to unselect Add ceiling lights check box? I have the same problem and I surely don't have unselect this check box... 'cause I didn't find it. Could you please tell me where it is? |

Re: lights question Cactus, I suggest your first read the user's guide and the help files on how to work with lights. Then ask your question in such a way that you don't force us to read the entire thread to figure out what you exactly want to know. Re: lights question I exactly wanted to know where is the "Add ceiling lights" check box. I finally found it, it was simply in the "create a photo" box. Thanks for your help. |

Re: lights question Are you sure you changed the right side of the wall? Do you the color or texture change in the 3D view ? ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: lights question The 3D view is explained in the help and the user's guide. An other idea : maybe you created two walls at the same place. Select the one you want to change, delete it and check if an other wall is still there. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: lights question in 3d view screen there is no edit about walls, just light and brightness, i edit colors of wallas on 2d screen , right click on wall and modify walls!! aint that right, i choose white , it shows every color but not pure white, just a grey tone at last point |

Re: lights question There's no wall edit in the 3D view, but it's there where you can see the effect of changing wall color or texture. You'll never get pure white unless you increase light power. If everything was pure white you wouldn't distinguish shapes. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: lights question I think there's a misunderstanding about what you expect to appear in the 3D view. This image was computed with photo creation dialog at one of two best quality levels. Please, please, read Sweet Home 3D user's guide from the beginning to the end. It's not so long, and you'll learn many basic features that will help you to better understand how Sweet Home 3D works. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: lights question I tried using the Advanced Photo renderer with different wall colors: 2 are beige and one is blue. As you can see, the colors are very soft, you can hardly tell that the 2 beige walls have color. My settings: North is at 60, the time is about 1:20pm, Silk walls, ceiling, and floors is set to "off" but I did use the Silk rendering setting with ceiling, lamp, and sun checked off (meaning the box is checked). The power for the wall lights is set to 40% ---------------------------------------- |

(north position is arranged for my home angle but it didnt work anyway which is not important now when im having problems with inside of home: walllls!!!!! :(:(:(:( http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a178/mcdost/8.png |

Re: lights question Nice layout! Just for experiment, change the wall color to a dark blue or red and see what that does. As you've seen with my rendering, the beige walls came out very pale, almost white, and the beige shade that I had chosen was much darker. Did you try the built in renderer? (the one with the black camera icon from the menu bar) Just wondering if that would give a nicer result. I've noticed that it renders things a bit differently. |

Re: lights question Soul, if you share your SH3D file, I will have a look at it, and see why you can't get the colours you want. Hans ---------------------------------------- Hans new website - under constuction hansdirkse.info |
