How to draw a room Hi, I'm newbie:) Can anyone teach me how to draw exact rectangular room. Lets imagine that I selected room tool. First click. No problems here till the second click as magnetism is active and I can draw straight line without any angles. Second click. No problems till third click, as magnetism is active and I can draw exact 90 degrees angles. Now the third click. And now I do not know where exactly to do fourth click, I do want my third wall to be exactly the same size as opposite (first) wall. I can see no visual guides appearing so I do not know where to make fourth click:( I want to do this only with the mouse. Help me. Thanks. |

Re: How to draw a room Rimvy, - Download the plug-in tutorial. - Install the AdvancedEdit plug-in. - This gives you a new function Plan --> Edit room points, which allows you to make exact placement of room points. - Download the plug-in tutorial to help you installing the plug-in and teach you its many uses. Re: How to draw a room So am I right by saying that there is no easy way to draw precise rectangle only using mouse or keyboard (room tool)? I can't see any visual helpers appearing when I draw room, no tool tips:( Am I right by saying that there is no ability to set dimensions for inner wall? And thanks for your help. |

Re: How to draw a room Rimvy, When drawing a room, a tool tip appears that gives the exact length of the line you are drawing, and the angle relative to the last point. This should enable you to draw with a high degree of precision. However, a mouse is a rather imprecise tool, and it can be difficult to get lengths exactly right. You can increase precision by zooming in further, so that mouse movement translates into a smaller distance. The discussion about how to draw walls and rooms is an old one, and one that has no easy solution. Consider a room surrounded by walls of three different thicknesses, a common situation in many houses (say: outside cavity walls 30 cms thick, load bearing internal walls 20 cms thick, non-load bearing internal walls 10 cms thick). Whether you draw the walls first, or the room first, you will need to do some simple calculations to correctly draw the plan. Re: How to draw a room As mentioned in the help about drawing rooms, you may also enter with the keyboard the coordinates of the first point of the room then the length and the angle of each side by pressing the enter key. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: How to draw a room Ok, then another situation then:) Lets imagine that I drew a rectangle from walls (1 room). No I want to start to draw another room. So I need to start precisely from one corner (midpoint I think) of my existing room. How to do that. I can see visual helpers but as you said - mouse is not precise at all. |
