V4 and Ubuntu 12.10
Hi,

I'm familiar with Sweethome3D on Win7. But also installed Ubuntu 12.10 recently and found only Sweethome3D V3.5 in their Software Center.

I wonder if the new V4 will work on Ubuntu 12.10 and how to install a downloaded copy in Ubuntu?

Sorry so far I only know how to install from Ubuntu Software Center.

Thanks :-)

Re: V4 and Ubuntu 12.10
Gan,

- Download the installer version and unpack it.
- Double-click the script SweetHome3D (880 bytes) to start SH3D.

If the program doesn't run properly:
- Uninstall IceTea Java
- Install Sun Jave 7.0.

Re: V4 and Ubuntu 12.10
Hi hansmex,

Thanks you for the help.

The V4 seems to be working fine, can open my previous files.

Only one non critical issue. The menu bar is very dim. Almost the same color as the top dark panel of the software.

I have to blindly click in the area to get the drop down menu. Say, I want to go the Edit menu, I got to click blindly in about the area to get the drop down menu.

Anyway to adjust the font color of the menu? to make it brighter maybe.

Thanks :-)

Re: V4 and Ubuntu 12.10
Gan,

As far as I know, SH3D "borrows" colours and fonts from the theme of the operating system. So, if (for example) you have installed a pale blue theme with little contrast, than SH3D will be in pale blue with little contrast.
If, on the other hand, you choose a black and white theme with high contrast, SH3D will show everything in black and white with high contrast.
You may consider experimenting with a different theme.
