What happened to my 3D pane?
I'm new to the program and was going along nicely. Imported my plan view into the 2D pane and did the walls. 3D view pane showed the walls very nicely. Then I got into a muddle with doors and door frames and when I got straightened out (I think), I found the image in the 3D pane had disappeared. Can anyone help me find what happened so I can get it back? Is there an off/on switch for the 3D pane?

Re: What happened to my 3D pane?
Harold,

Yes. No.

There isn't an on-off switch for the 3D view, but there is 3D view --> Display in a separate window. (also accessible through a right-click in the 3d preview window)

Maybe you accidentally activated this option?

If not, you have to provide more information about your problem. Did you change the configuration of your computer? Like every program, SH3D has its bugs, but most 3D problems tend towards what is described in the FAQ .

What system do you use? How did you install Sweet Home 3D?
I noticed that under my Windows environment, the 3D view sometimes disappears after a window resizing when the program is run with Java 7 (that's the main reason why rhe installer version is still provided with Java 6). If it's your case, resize again the 3D view to make it appear again or use the installer version.

To Puybaret:

My computer runs Windows 7 x64. I downloaded SweetHome from the Web and installed following the instructions that appeared after the download. I think I do have Java 7 installed. I did resize the image in the 3D pane. I'll see if I can do another resize but there is no image to see if anything is happening when I try to resize.

Re: What happened to my 3D pane?
To hansmex:

I will check to see if I inadvertently put it in the Display in Separate Window mode.

Re: What happened to my 3D pane?
To Puybaret and hansmex:

My problem is resolved. I did somehow manage to put the 3D image unintentionally in a separate window while I was working on Doors. When I changed it back using the right-click menu, it reappeared in the 3D pane of the four-part main display. Thanks for the help.

Re: What happened to my 3D pane?
I would like to modify my previous description of how I recovered from losing the 3D image from the four-pane main display, in order to make it clearer to anyone else who has this problem. First right click in the blank 3D pane of the main display. Select Show in separate window (or words to that effect)on the menu. A separate window will appear with the 3D view in it. Right click on the separate window and again select Show in separate window. This time the 3D view will appear in the 3D pane of the main display (where you want it). Then Save your work and you'll be back in business. When you open the program again, the 3D image will be in the 3D pane of the main display.
