It's difficult to help you without your sh3d file.
Look here to see how you can share it.

More Help
How to get picture of the plan 2D I only get 3D picture

Posted by okh at Jul 31, 2014, 9:54:54 AM
Re: Making continues walls
Depends what you mean. Adjust window you want to correct size.

  • Taking a screenshot (picture of screen/window):
PrtSc or Alt+PrtSc copies screen/window to clipboard in Win and many Linux environments
    Cmd+Shift+Ctrl+3 or Cmd+Shift+Ctrl+4 in OS X (I think).
(You need to save the clipboard to a file. Annoyingly procedures for this have changed in newer Windows versions, but pasting the clipboard to some graphics software and saving always works.)
  • AND/OR Save and Compress (Ctrl+Alt+S) your SH3D plan.
  • Upload files according to Hansmex' link above.

ok

NO, is not correct!
You CAN'T use your local file.
You must create an account on madiafire.com (for egsample), upload your files ther and then share it according to this tutorial.

PS
The tutorial is a little bit outdated but after few attempt you will win.
Good luck!

Re: Making continues walls
Finally is relatively correct.
Now I understand Your problem related in initial post.
The program compute correct the dimensions wile consider the visible side of wall. The walls from 3~6 have an extra .10 thickness from walls you have draw before and after. It's very close to real world when you try to measure some walls.
To make continuous walls you need:
1. Install this great plugin;
2. Start drawing walls in one step (no mater the precise but the general aspect). That's mean you point and click (ONE CLICK) for every end of the wall.
3. The end of the last wall is preferably to be over the start point of the first wall. Finish drawing by double click, then press ESC.
4. In menu bar click on selection icon (the arrow).
5. Select LAST wall, press Shift + select FIRST wall to have both selected.
6. Wile selection go to Plan -> Connect walls .This option appear ONLY if the AdvacedEditing plugin is installed.
After few attempts I'm sure You got'it.

Re: Making continues walls
what am i doing wrong?
Guessing from your picture and list of "errors", it could be that you are not aware that walls are measured from the centre point. This means you have to add or subtract half the wall thickness for each turn if you want to enter dimensions in the wall properties.

However, as it appears you are working with indoor measurements, there may be an easier way of doing this:
- Open an empty plan,
- draw a ROOM (not wall, use the Room-tool) with the dimensions you want,
- (if you need to, zoom in on each corner and use the SELECT tool to move the corner exactly where you want it),
- set the correct wall thickness in PREFERENCES
- now, use the WALL tool and double-click on the room,

The wall should now fit snugly around the room, and your (indoor) measurements (and walls) should be correct.

Or did I misunderstand your problem?

ok

To Dorin
Thank you for the advise,
Downloaded plugin as your suggested, on Readme.txt there is explanation to install under Linux and other Unix, it's the subfolder .eteks/sweethome3d/plugins of your user folder, I cant find the subfolder eteks in plugins.
My SH is .tgz file don’t know if there is a difference, please advise.

To Okh
Thank you for your advise, it works.

cool   Re: Making continues walls
1. Read at the end of this
2. Download AdvancedEditing.sh3p file from here
3. In your home directory (under linux) IF you have run at least once the SweetHome3D program you will find a hidden directory .eteks.
In this one you will have the directory sweethome3d .
There if you don't have allready a directory name "plugins" you must create it.
4. In this directory you have to copy the AdvancedEditing.sh3p file.
5. Restart the SweetHome3D program.
P.S. My SH3D is also .tgz smile
PPS My path is /home/dorin/.eteks/sweethome3d/plugins/

Re: Making continues walls
Again thank you for all the help.
I am sorry to be a pain but this gremlin of .eteks continues.
Search my Home folder and SW folders but no result, checked for hidden files the same.
Follows a screenshot of SW folder, there is a Plugin with Desktop and i386 subfolders but no .eteks.
I downloaded AdvancedEditing plugin.

Re: Making continues walls
Here's an other way that you might find easier:
- Open a Terminal window
- Drag and drop the icon of SweetHome3D program on Terminal window to copy its path
- Type a space in the Terminal window
- Drag and drop the icon of the .sh3p plug-in file on Terminal window to copy its path
- Press <enter> in the Terminal window
This should run a command like:
/folder/SweetHome3D /anotherFolder/AdvancedEditing.sh3p
that will install the plug-in at the right place.

[Edit: don't use the -open parameter]

Re: Making continues walls
First Let's make clean on your mess.

1. As normal user (use your favorite file manager):
--Go to folder where you download and extract the SH3D program. Delete
the extracted folder.
--Keep the SweetHome3D-4.4-linux-x64.tgz or SweetHome3D-4.4-linux-x32.tgz. and the AdvancedEditing.sh3p file.
--Open an terminal (console):
--type su
--type your root password
--type mv /root/home/.eteks
--type exit & close the terminal.
2. Right click on SweetHome3D-4.4-linux-x64.tgz and select "Extract here"
3. Open the new extracted folder (SweetHome3D-4.4) and double click on SweetHome3D file. In few seconds SH3D is runing. Close it.
4. NOW you must already have create something like this:
/home/dorin/.eteks/sweethome3d/ (in my case)
/home/lumaja/.eteks/sweethome3d/ (probably in your case)
---You wheel find 3 folders (furniture; langueges; textures) and a file (preferences.xml)
5. Create here an new folder name plugins
6. Copy in this folder the AdvancedEditing.sh3p file
7. Go to SweetHome3D-4.4 folder and double click on SweetHome3D file.

Re: Making continues walls
1. This forum is not intend to be for how to administrate various kind of linux systems. The "su" command is the classic way to become "root".
I suppose You have some kind of *buntu or *mint. You could tell me more by typing in terminal: infobash -v3
2. Anyway you could skip the part with "su" and continue with steep 2

Re: Making continues walls
1. In a previous post I've made a mistake:
--Open an terminal (console):
--type su
--type your root password
--type mv /root/home/.eteks
--type exit & close the terminal.

Please replace mv /root/home/.eteks with rm -rf /root/home/.eteks/
2. As normal user (luis) open a terminal and type:
2.1. ls -al /home/luis/.eteks/sweethome3d/
You should have something like these:
drwxr-xr-x 8 luis luis 4096 Aug 29 13:39 .
drwxr-xr-x 3 luis luis 4096 Aug 9 2012 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 luis luis 4096 Sep 1 08:19 furniture

drwxr-xr-x 2 luis luis 4096 Feb 25 2014 textures
drwxr-xr-x 2 luis luis 4096 Sep 1 08:21 work

2.2. ls -al /home/luis/.eteks/sweethome3d/plugins/
In my system I have this:
drwxr-xr-x 2 dorin dorin 4096 Aug 14 10:25 .
drwxr-xr-x 8 dorin dorin 4096 Aug 29 13:39 ..

Re: Making continues walls
You have extract the AdvancedEditingPlugin-src.zip file.
You need only the AdvancedEditing.sh3p file to be copy in plugins directory.
Solution:
1. Go in /home/luis/.eteks/sweethome3d/plugins/ and delete all.
2. Download AdvancedEditing.sh3p file and copy in plugin directory.
3. Start SH3D program.
P.S. That's how to install plugins in SH3D.

luis@luis-G41M-Combo:~$ ls -al /home/luis/.eteks/sweethome3d/plugins/
total 112
drwxrwxr-x 2 luis luis 4096 Sep 30 13:25 .

-rw-rw-r-- 1 luis luis 103612 Sep 18 09:45 AdvancedEditing.sh3p

Not the same as you get, is the difference matters?.

Re: Making continues walls
NO!
I have installed more plugins then You have.
Now, in menu bar of SH3D, You must find:
Menu bar Plan -> Connect walls.
To use this You must have some walls draw in plan.
Remember ALL walls have a start point and an end point.
You can connect the end point of FIRST selected wall with the start point of the SECOND selected wall.(use Shift for this).
Make some tests on a mew plan to learn how it's work.
Their is more tricks to discover like 2 clicks.
