Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 I have the similar unsolved Direct x driver issues in windows 10. Sweet Home 3D 5.0 works very well on my HP G62 with Windows 7 but fails to work with Windows 10. During start up a Direct x error message indicating it needs to be updated, is displayed and the application aborts. When checking Windows 10 with dxdiag from the command line it indicates Direct x 10 is running normally and no updates are currently available. Yet on Windows 7 dxdiag indicates newer Direct x 11 is running normally. The issue appears to be the limited Windows 10 and Intel support for the Mobile Intel 4 Graphic Chip (GMA 4500) used in this HP G62 laptop. Yet Window 10 works with the 3G Pass Mark test which appears to use Direct x 10 3D graphics without issues. Also except for Sweet Home 3D 5.0, Windows 10 works well so far. Is there some way for getting Windows 10 and Sweet Home 3D to work on a HP G62 laptop equipped with an Intel GMA 4500 graphic chip set? Would appreciate any suggestions to get it working. |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 I'm very disappointed there is no SweetHome 3D fix for this error in Windows 10. I just installed Windows 10 on two PC's and all is beautiful. I'm surprised!I have many graphic and architectural programs 'but only SH3D' gives this errormessage regarding "DirctX/OpenGL". What is the solution for the millions who are upgrading to Windows 10?? |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 Everything works well for me here and for thousands of other Sweet Home 3D users. Did you try to run Sweet Home 3D in 32 bit like proposed in the FAQ? Or run older versions? ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 Same problem for me. Sweet Home 3D was running ok in Windows 7 64 bits on a Intel Express Q35 and now, in Windows 10 64 bits, it doesn't start and it shows same message that masapri posted. I tried with Java Web Start using 32 bit Java VM and it works ok. |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 I downloaded Version 5.2 to my Windows 10 Laptop. An error message displays immediately about Direct x and the application aborts. Being simply a user who would like to make house plans and not a computer geek, is there any remedy? Rhona |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 Hi Rhona, I have loved Sweethome for years and it's simply awesome! However this Windows 10 issue is going to be a killer to most 'non-tech users'. Emmanuuel gave a FAQ link (see above), installing Java JRE. Then @Nightmare says it was solved with Java VM. It's quite confusing however and it's not easy to install I think. Someone really needs to post a clear "Step-By-Step" to install the Java 32 into Windows 10 until there's a fix. This SH3D has such potential, but this W10 issue could slow it's use dramatically. |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 My post should have said "Java JRE" not Java 32. Java JRE is the fix SH3D recommends, just not enough detailed instructions for most people. "Someone really needs to post a clear "Step-By-Step" to install the Java JRE into Windows 10 until there's a fix." |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 I just registered just to say thank you.. The Java trick worked perfectly, and I don't think it can get easier to follow, or the need to a step-by-step guide.. It is just download and install an app, and then download and run the Jnlp file... |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 What finally worked for me was the following: 1) Install Java 21 and Java 64; both if a 64-bit machine). 2) Using Firefox, and get into sweethome 3) use the "ONLINE". This will fire-up JAVA 4) leave Firefox ON, minimize window, and fireup the installed local Sweethome program. Weird as it sounds, but that works. For Java, use the "offline"installations https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp The install will clear up old and unneeded versions.Enable Java (from the Configure java app) |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 The new Vswethome3d ersion 5.2, February 17, 2016 fixes the problem, But to make it work, I use the added Java Web Start http://sweethome3d.com/SweetHome3D-HiDPIx2.jnlp This is able to display the user interface of Sweet Home 3D at a twice larger size for users with HiDPI screens under Windows and Linux. |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 Hi, I had the same problem on a windows 10 x64 system. This is how I finally solved it using java 64 bits: - Install Sweet Home 3D - Rename the jre8 folder in installation directory (C:\Program Files\Sweet Home 3D) to jre8.bak (JRE bundled is 1.8.0_74) - Install a previous JRE 64 bits (For me it worked with 1.8.0 and 1.7.X). It gets installed in c:/"Program Files"/Java/JREXXX - Either copy/mklink c:/"Program Files"/Java/JREXXX directory as C:\Program Files\Sweet Home 3D\jre8 This is another way of making it run without JNLP and java 32 bits: - Download and install java 32 bits - Download SweetHome3D jar from sourgeforge (https://sourceforge.net/projects/sweethome3d/...etHome3D-5.2.jar/download) - With only 32bits java installed, double click to start - With multiple java installed, create a start.bat file pointing at the correct java containing: C:/Program Files/java/JAVA-VERSION-WORKING/bin/java -jar C:/DIRECTORY-WITH-JAR/SweetHome3D-5.2.jar) |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 Please try the version 5.3 Beta 6 which should fix this issue (at least for some of you). Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 I should report also. I posted my concern a few months ago because our organization was creating templates for our thousands of members to use with SH3D. 100% of our office staff were having difficulty when upgrading to Windows 10. NOW, however, with the 5.3 beta-6 all staff and members are having 100% success. Thank you so much Puybaret! |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 Hellow! I thnk, i got sloution for the Directx/openGL problem. Native win 10 x64 graphic driver for intel card is incompatibile with openGL. So we need to install stock Intel driver. For example: my laptop had Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family (mobile intel GMA 4500M). And only this driver could be installed on win 10 x64 for me: http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/det...76460_2&swEnvOid=4059 another ones has stopped with system incompatible mesage. Now Sweet home 3D 5.4 run with java jre1.8.0_121 (x86). Good luck. |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 This software still won't work for me, even after trying everything. The online version won't work in Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. The download version gives the DirectX error, even though it's a new laptop and up to date. I'm just going to move on to something more modern that actually works and doesn't give headaches. |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 Ok, I'm seriously frustrated. My design was nearly complete, weeks of work put in and now it could all be lost unless I find a way to get this program to work again. I installed it about 3 weeks ago on an Asus with Windows 10. It was running beautifully until I did a system update this morning. Suddenly the program crashes immediately upon start. I updated Java and all drivers. I installed Java JRE. I uninstalled and reinstalled. I restarted my computer about 5 times. Someone please help, I fell in love with SH3D and now it's breaking my heart! I'm kicking myself because I never saved images of my design and it would be impossible to recreate from memory as it's too large. |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 Hello, I had troubles with 5.4 under Win10 32, 1607, DirectX 12 with Intel GMA. After standard installation SH3D was showing splash screen, followed by program screen and crashed without any comment. Web Start with DirectX version was working fine for me. So I've checked the settings in .jnlp and set relevant parameters from Windows x86 section to Sweethome3D.l4j.ini file: -Dj3d.rend=d3dBut only these settings don't help, I had also to replace Java3D. With downloaded Java3D v1.5.1 (yes, 1.5.2 should be there, but as fast shot I didn't found it) and overwriting files in java3D-1.6 folder it was finally working. So very dirty done, but maybe it helps as intermediate solution and for identifying the problem. |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 To fix the DirectX drivers issue in Windows 10 : Install the earlier version of DirectX some applications require older versions of DirectX in order to run properly, and you have to install it manually. And also reinstall your graphic card drivers this might be causing the issue • Press Windows Key + X and choose Device Manager. • When Device Manager starts, go to Display Adapters section and locate your graphic card driver. • Right click the driver and choose Uninstall • Check Remove the driver software for this device and click OK. • After you’ve uninstalled the driver, restart your computer. • When your computer restarts, go to your graphic card manufacturer’s website and download the latest drivers for your graphic card. • Install the downloaded drivers. It is recommended download the drivers from the manufacturer website https://sites.google.com/site/troubleshootwindows10problems |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 @Puybaret : I can't get Sweet Home 3D to work anymore after updating to the latest version of Windows 10. I tried following all of the suggestions in the FAQ : - I am running Windows 10 version 1703, build 15063.483, which doesn't provide the option to change the HW acceleration anymore (I had access to this option on the same computer I am using now with previous versions of Windows 10). - I made sure I have the latest DirectX/OpenGL drivers. - I am using a 64-bit system, and installed the 32-bit JRE to run Sweet Home 3D with Java Web Start. This didn't resolve the issue. - Using Sweet Home 3D without the 3D features isn't an option for me, because I use it precisely because of its 3D features. Are there any other suggestions you could provide, or should I consider dropping Sweet Home 3D? Btw, I tried installing and using Sweet Home 3D on my wife's computer (which runs on the same version of Windows 10 I have, but on an AMD chipset): I got exactly the same issue. Thank you in advance! |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 After few months and some versions, the PROBLEM is still there... IMPOSSIBLE to use normal (5.4) version (not Web Start version). Java Web Start option works ok but I need features (plugins) from non Web Start version. THIS IS VERY ANNOYING |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 I purchased Version 5.2.2 from Amazon on 27 September 2016 and have spent many successful hours developing furniture layouts for my house. Now I need to modify some rooms. When I started up the application I was notified about the available software update and using the Amazon.fr site to get the update. Once I had installed the 5.6 version I got the fatal error warning concerning DirectX and OpenGL updates needed for my graphics card. I have followed many discussions online regarding this error and have followed the Sweet Home 3D FAQ advice. None of this works. Next step was to go back to the original 5.2 version I had. This I downloaded from Source Forge. This version had the same fatal error as the 5.6 version. Next step was to download and install the 5.3 version since this version was reputed to solve this particular fatal error. AND behold version 5.3 runs without any fatal errors and I can now open my last layout files. BUT, the library of available objects in the 5.3 version downloaded from source forge is minimalist and is missing many of the objects I have used in my layout files (.sh3d files). So having paid for the full copy I am now stuck with the free copy that has few usable objects to drag into my layouts. Clearly the fatal error is tied into the Sweet Home 3D install files and how these work (or more precisely DO NOT work) with Windows 10 64 bit operating systems. From all the discussions on this subject many people have suffered extensively from this combination of fatal errors under Windows10. Some have found solutions (like me with the source forge version 5.3) but it is crystal clear that the problem lies with the Sweet Home 3D install packages. So now I have two questions: 1. How do I get the 5.6 version, with a full set of available objects in the libraries, working on my Windows 10, DirectX 11, Java 8 RTE (I have also tried Java 9 RTE but that made no difference to the fatal error) PC. Please do not point me to your FAQ. I have tried all that and it does not work. 2. If there’s no way to get the 5.6 version running on my system, how can I get hold of the object libraries that I had and paid for with Version 5.2.2? Cheers Ian |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 The extra parameters for the install process resolve the problem of this fatal error under Windows 10, DirectX 11, Java RTE 8. Here's a rapid summary of the difficulties encountered: 1. Paid for Version 5.2.2 from Amazon 27 September 2016 2. Tried to update to 5.6 through Amazon - produced fatal error on graphics card updates. 3. Tried all FAQ and other forum suggestions - no change 4. Tried registering and posting on this forum - failed because forum is out of action for modification and mvnforum.com is up for sale 5. Tried downloading each free version from Source Forge - 5.2 gives same fatal error, but 5.3 installs and works, only problem is free version has minimalist object libraries 6. Went back to Amazon to leave comment and found reply from Sweet Home under a customer comment about the fatal error. 7. Noted that this comment is the same as suggested solution that is in the SH3D Forum thread for the system slow down thread. Since all my posts on this forum are waiting for the modification status to be resolved, please just post this last one and reject the previous three posts. Cheers Ian |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10 Did you also try to run dxwebsetup.exe as proposed here and/or the new parameters /j3d.version=1.5.2 /os.arch=x86 available for the installer and described here? If neither solution works, you could also try to copy the jre8 folder of the version 5.3 to the same folder of your version 5.6. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: DirectX driver issues in windows 10I did not try the dxwebsetup.exe, but i did go to the Microsoft site and made sure that the DirectX11 drivers I have installed are the latest available. I installed Java 9 and then Java 8 X86 version but that did not solve the fatal error. I was surprised to see that version 5.3 from source forge worked without any issues whereas 5.2 from source forge and 5.6 from Amazon produce he fatal error. I did not try the new parameters for 5.5 installation because these parameters are described as solutions for the 3D view running dramatically slow - I did not have that problem so I did not try that solution. I did not find the additional parameters solution you posted on the Amazon site because it's hidden as a reply to a customer comment and is not immediately visible to someone browsing the customer comments. I have posted a customer comment on Amazon in the main thread pointing out the installation difficulties and where to find solutions. I have added a paragraph that customers should not be discouraged by the installation difficulties because once installed the app is excellent. Now that I have verified that your additional parameters solution for slow 3D also solves the fatal error situation I am a happy user. I hope the posts to this forum and the Amazon customer comments help users find the installation solution more rapidly than I did. Cheers Ian |
