building a roof I there, I've checked the forum and I found a question regarding the roof and I downloaded the pdf file but when I create the roof it is positioned in the groundlevel and it must be placed on the top of the wall. Does anybody has got an idea how to do that? thanks in advance for the help. Reg, Hans |

Re: building a roof You could just lift the roof (e.g. Furniture, Elevate - or use the little blue arrow in one of the corners). But, as you do not want the roof in the way, it may be better to use a new level for the roof (Plan, Add level) at the right elevation and place the roof there. ok |

Re: building a roof I just found a way to lift/elevate something yes okay that's one Now I need to find a way to create a shape so that I can tilt the roof and make it slanted. |

Re: building a roof Have you checked out the Sloping Ceiling tutorial? http://www.sweethome3d.com/slopingCeilingGuide.pdf That should help. ---------------------------------------- Hawk |

Re: building a roof In addition to hansmex' tutorial mentioned by HawkDawg, there is also a useful blog post: How to design a sloping ceiling with a window and Arun's approach to create a Simple Roof in SweetHome3D. If you do not want to construct yourself, there are roofs on the 3D models page too and some in the SourceForge pages, such as these. ok ![]() |

Re: building a roof Hi Hawk, Thank you for the response but at point 6 and 7 in the tutorial it's written that you need to create a room but I can not lift the room to a certain level, you can only lift furniture... but thanks for the info. |

Re: building a roof Hi Hawk, Thank you for the response but at point 6 and 7 in the tutorial it's written that you need to create a room but I can not lift the room to a certain level, you can only lift furniture... but thanks for the info. I gave some help on how to do that in another topic you have. http://www.sweethome3d.com/support/forum/viewthread_thread,3615 Hi hawk, http://sourceforge.net/p/sweethome3d/d-models/372/ this is the roof I'm looking for, did you managed to get the roof filled? reg. Hans Filled? What do you mean? Textured? Models don't always texture as well as walls or models textured in a 3D Modeling program. ---------------------------------------- Hawk |

Re: building a roof Oh! That! No, I haven't worked on that since then. I'm thinking the best way for me to do it would be to build it in a 3D Modeling program. I just haven't tried yet. ---------------------------------------- Hawk |

Re: building a roofI have a problem putting a roof on my house plan. I have created another level with the elevation set at the top of the walls. When I attempt to set the roof model in place, it slides off to the side. I also want to create a soffit or overhand over the roof. Do I do that separately? Only been creating for a month. Love the problem. |

Re: building a roof Have you checked out the Sloping Ceiling tutorial? http://www.sweethome3d.com/slopingCeilingGuide.pdf That should help. I wonder if a parameter could be added to certain objects (such as box) that allows to define SLANT you have width lenght and dept plus elevation but you sould be able to do slant / or inclination either only on length or by choice on length or/and width such that you can have slanted object i know that will be on heck of a development effort but it might be worthwhile |

Re: building a roof Hello: I'm not sure if I'm posting this question in the proper space but here it is: I am designing a wrap around porch on the bottom level for a two story house. I cannot seem to figure out how to miter the corners of the roof over the porch. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance, Kate |

Re: building a roof Chekc these pages for an excellent set of roof parts that should enable you to do what you want/need. They were made a few years ago by OKH - Oka Hoff. They're in a SH3D file, so you have to export import the individual parts yourself. But... it's worth the trouble. Re: building a roof The two most interesting tickets where roof parts are proposed are also cited in the FAQ How can I create a roof on top of a house?, i.e. Krams036's models and OK Hoff's models. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |
