Hiding walls
I've imported a background image of the house plan and drawn walls as appropriate. But now I want to add windows and I can't see them in the background image as they're completely obscured by the walls.

Doors are not as bad as I can still see the swing of the door, but the actual opening in the wall is again hidden by the wall.

How can I see the background image in order to know where to place additional objects.

Re: Hiding walls
My solution:
CTRL-A, and set all walls to a thickness of 1 cm/inch
Place doors and windows
Select walls one at a time and give them correct thickness
Select door/window and wiggle a bit to snap it into place

Re: Hiding walls
Currently I just nudge the wall (using the keyboard arrow keys) a remembered number of times and then nudge back into place once I've added the windows. But then they have to be manually moved.

Overall, neither solution is ideal. We need a way to temporarily make a wall invisible, yet be able to add the window and have it snap to the invisible wall.

Re: Hiding walls
I thought about this issue recently, and I thought it shouldn't be difficult to make walls half transparent while dragging doors and windows, when there's a background image. What do you think of this idea?

I think that would be great solution Emmanuel.

Re: Hiding walls
Probably sounds daft, but, if you have a plan as a background, have you tried positioning the doors and windows first?

Re: Hiding walls
..walls half transparent ...
A half transparent 2D view of walls (while drawing on background image, or generally - Wall pattern in plan) could be useful. So yes, supporting the idea smile .

But then there's no wall for them to snap-to.
