My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise. Friends, i'm new to SH3D world or even to anything related to this. I live in India and I'm planning to build my house. I initially started out with different softwares as i wanted to design my home. but when i found this beauty called SH3D, i simply loved it and started using it. Now here is what i have done so far. My plot area n all I have shown in this SH3D file. My requirement is 3 Bed in total. 1 On GF ,2 on FF. Kitchen, Living and parking space. I tried this design so far. I need suggestions and alterations from you guys who r experts with it. Help me with suggestions. As i m no structural engineer i m surely going to visit architect too. but I need to have few designs before i go n meet him. Hope i m not violating any Terms n Conditions of the forum. Thanks in advance. Regards,.. Darshiit |

Re: My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise.Hello and welcome, Your project is interesting. There are surely constraints related to your country. Here are some remarks: 1. The toilets outside, why? How do you do in bad weather? 2. I did not see the bathroom. 3. I do not see how the big balcony will fit. You can not put a beam in the middle of the parking! 4. No window in "main bed". no window in "bed small". 5. How will your roof be? 6. How will you heat your house? 7. What does OTS mean? Re: My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise. Hello and welcome, Thanks brother for heads up. Your project is interesting. There are surely constraints related to your country. Here are some remarks: 1. The toilets outside, why? How do you do in bad weather? One of the toilet placed outside a friend suggested it. But thats not an issue at all. It can be placed anywhere on the Ground Floor. 2. I did not see the bathroom. On GroundFloor I m trying to place it under the stairs area. On first floor I'm still wondering what shall be the best place for having attached toilet & bath with enough structural strength. 3. I do not see how the big balcony will fit. You can not put a beam in the middle of the parking! 4. No window in "main bed". no window in "bed small". 5. How will your roof be? 6. How will you heat your house? 7. What does OTS mean? Regards, bdfd. ![]() Let me tell you some facts about weather and materials i m going to use. Weather is quite habitate over here. Not so many challenges. Temprature is about 21-35 degree celc. whole year. Which includes winter about 18-23 degrees and also heaty summer about 35-39 degrees. Rainy season here lasts about 4 months and it rains moderately here. Wind breeze is from West Side ( thats why i opted this land). Material for wall would be a 9" thick stone. Roof I will make of concrete, Almost flat ( Will give some minor slop towards the sides as it will help keep rain water to flush away. ) Brother, My basic idea was just only to put plot size and ask for advise. But I thought it would be rude just ask for help without doing anything on a project. If you wish, you can remove all the elements , all the walls and start fresh. I already mentioned my requirements. But again here it is. We are family of three. Me , my wife and a kid (5 yrs boy). We would be more then happy to have just 2 Bed , hall and kitchen all n all. But family and friends suggested one small bed room on the Ground floor. Yes, I do need balcony, where I can put a Swing bed (small one) facing west. I need main enterence on Ground floor facing West. Kitchen on South-East. Thats it. so all n all , 3 bed , hall kitchen with a parking ( I need 10' x 15' for my current car.) Oh forgot to mention OTS is for Open space for vents and air circulation. Hope this helps. Thanks again... Regards,.. Darshiit |

Re: My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise. OK. One of the toilet placed outside a friend suggested it. But thats not an issue at all. It can be placed anywhere on the Ground Floor. it's better to have them inside but it's not mandatory ...On GroundFloor I m trying to place it under the stairs area. On first floor I'm still wondering what shall be the best place for having attached toilet & bath with enough structural strength. Not easy, it depends if you want a bath or a shower? do not forget to add a window to the outside (in height) for the aeration and the light. Let me tell you some facts about weather and materials i m going to use. OK, can you send us the plan of this land (without your name of course); the location of the house is also important.Weather is quite habitate over here. [moderated] Roof I will make of concrete, Almost flat ( Will give some minor slop towards the sides as it will help keep rain water to flush away. ) OK, it's a good idea and rain is free.Brother, My basic idea was just only to put plot size and ask for advise. But I thought it would be rude just ask for help without doing anything on a project. No but it's an idea to update your project. If you wish, you can remove all the elements , all the walls and start fresh. I already mentioned my requirements. But again here it is. We are family of three. Me , my wife and a kid (5 yrs boy). Good idea for old days.We would be more then happy to have just 2 Bed , hall and kitchen all n all. But family and friends suggested one small bed room on the Ground floor. Yes, I do need balcony, where I can put a Swing bed (small one) facing west. Becareful for the general structure.A question, the north is good in your sh3d file ? I need main enterence on Ground floor facing West. Kitchen on South-East. It's ok for me, I don't see problems.Thats it. so all n all , 3 bed , hall kitchen with a parking ( I need 10' x 15' for my current car.) OK.Oh forgot to mention OTS is for Open space for vents and air circulation. OK, in the European houses a 'VMC' (an electric box) is installed connected to each room with flexible hoses for the ventilation (Controlled Mechanical Ventilation)=> search information about it. Looking forward to seeing the continuation of the plan with the updates. Good luck. bdfd ![]() ---------------------------------------- Evil progresses when good people do nothing! --- SH3D 7.1 and nothing else - W11 64b in 4K |

Re: My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise. Thanks again bro,. Here r the dimensions of the plot. East : 9.10 meter West : 9.51 meter ( Open side ) North : 8.00 meter South : 10.74 meter ( Road Side ) East n North sides have other people's home. South side have a road side approx 8 mtrs. West side is open and will remain open forever as there will be no buildings ever upto the road on that side. My city gets fresh breeze air from West side , Sea shore is 25 kms away from my location on west. And yes , North is correct on that plan. Thats what is there approximately on the plan I shared here. Remove internal walls and u will find it. Or here it is the plain one. I will try improve earlier plan and share. But anyone with any possible designs can help here. thanks again. Regards,.. Re: My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise. Well. Here is little updates and an idea for the biggest balcony. ![]() a) blue arrow, a beam (in red: 0.20 x 0.20 x 3.40 m reinforced concrete) to support the large balcony. height of the toilet wall at 2.6 m b) red '?' : what is the future function of this room? c) green arrows: I add 2 windows what do you think ? ![]() ---------------------------------------- Evil progresses when good people do nothing! --- SH3D 7.1 and nothing else - W11 64b in 4K |

Re: My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise. That RED room, will remain as it is, and will build another stair there to access the roof. (level 2 ). Roof will be utilized for Solar panels for electricity and Solar water heater and rest space will remain free. I got this so far, but my problem is where do i place toilets in first floor ? so that structure remains intact. I will share a few different plans i did. Please have a look. Now if u can suggest, where shall i put Columns n Beams ? If required plz do changes. Thanks again |

Re: My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise. Yeah, Its an open space, which I cant claim but surely i can grow some plants there and make it a garden. Its perfectly legal. Did u go through all floors ? If u can tell me where shall i put beams and columns in this ? Or you have any different idea on how differently it can be designed ? I will share other possible designs this weekend once i develop it. I need you guys to help me with things I dont know. Thanks again. Regards,.. Darshiit |

Re: My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise. Hi, keep in mind that there are constraints in every building, especially those with several floors (electric, water, sewage, ...) In France, if your plans exceed 150 m² (floor area) you must call an architect is the law. level 0: why not open the kitchen on the living? The living room would be enlarged. The southern window of the room could bring a lot of heat, only one should be enough. In addition there would be the noise of the parking. level 1: the rooms seem (to me) well disposed. I changed the balcony a bit to make it structurally simpler. (red and blue arrow) and I move the black beam. ![]() ---------------------------------------- Evil progresses when good people do nothing! --- SH3D 7.1 and nothing else - W11 64b in 4K |

Re: My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise. Thanks Bro, So this design seems more convinient ? About open kitchen, I dont know if i will plan it or not. It purely depends on wife's choice as shez gonna spend most of her time there. Southern window in both kitchen and bed at level0 required for air circulation. As the area is less populated it won't attract much of the traffic . Plus it will give a view to the parking area from bedroom. Thanks again, But I expect you to design something different as I might have a limited imagination. With your experience and i m sure u must have gone through thousands of designs, if you can suggest something better then this, I will be thankful. Please check this This shall give u the idea how the houses r being build now adays, elevations shall give u the idea. Regards,.. Darshiit |

Re: My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise. Remember, there are houses at north and East sides, so no window on these walls ! ![]() ---------------------------------------- Evil progresses when good people do nothing! --- SH3D 7.1 and nothing else - W11 64b in 4K |

Re: My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise. Thanks Mike for heads up and all the efforts u put for this project. Here r the things which doesnt make this plan going. 1> putting toilets on WEST side will block all fresh air coming through that side. 2> As bdfd said, there will be other ppl's houses on North and East side, so cant put a window there unless I put an OTS (open space ) on that side on ground floor and build a wall over it. 3> putting a wall at main enterence will lead a person to the kitchen directly. Also makes things invisible at door step if one is in the living area. But still its a nice effort. I shall change the plan a bit in ur design and will reshare it. But once again, a big thank from the bottom of my heart for spending time over it and considering it as a project. hope to see more ideas from you soon bro... Regards,.. Darshiit |

Re: My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise. Hi Darshiit, Here is an example with a nice roof (jacuzzi and pergola)... All walls and Windows have same textures by level. Balcony and west walls have beeen simplified. Regards, bdfd ![]() ---------------------------------------- Evil progresses when good people do nothing! --- SH3D 7.1 and nothing else - W11 64b in 4K |

Re: My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise. Thanks bro bdfd,.. I like the way u decorated the roof. jacuzzi I might not opt but I'm for sure going to do some terrace gardening. Already asked a friend to build some good utils for that. I'm also planning to add a solar system on roof top. As my area is blessed by the mighty Sun. I can generate some energy from it. Also I'm going to use solar water heater for hot water need. I'm yet to finalize design for my home. After finalizing design, the build up will take about 1 and half year and plus interiors might take some more time. Thanks again for all the efforts you guys have put into it. I'm still open for any change in design ( placement of rooms, bathrooms etc ). Just in case if i dont find any more designs , I will keep u guys posted here. :) Thanks again.. Regards,.. Darshiit |

Re: My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise. BUMP............. So Finally after making and throwing tonz of plans into my rubbish bin, I came up with a plan what i m going to use to build my little home. As I promised whenever i will come up with final version of my plan I will share here. so here we go.. Its as per VASTU (as per my best knowledge) as my family demanded. Interiors I have done just on the first floor and that too very basic. Neither proper color scheme I applied. May be u guys will help me with it. Here is the link, plz share ur views on pros and cons of the plan.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jAAF-Pk_9Sgd...ug1L32JM/view?usp=sharing
Stairs : from G.F. to F.F. Tread 10" , Rise 6" , Width 3'6" from F.F. to Roof access , Tread 9", Rise 7" , Width 3'6" (sorry for the hollow step, i dont know how to fill it as i created object with walls and imported it. LOL ) On G.F. , Indian style toilet placed under the stairs (marked). Hope to hear back from u guys soon. And yeah a big big big thanks to developers of SweetHome 3d, who made this wonderful free thingy to help a person like me. Best regards.... Darshiit |

Re: My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise. About Your design: 1. Wile You already know how to export/import walls/objects make a sloping wall and import it in a different position (from vertical to horizontal) or use Shape Generator plugin. 2. I think the door in the stair case is dangerous for head or useless. ![]() I suggest this: ![]() or this: ![]() 3. Make more room for bathroom and put lavatory in it. I think there is their place. ---------------------------------------- A computer program does what you tell it to do, not what you want it to do. Re: My first hand on SH3D. Planning a new home. Please Advise. Thanks Dorin,.. 1. I actually dont know much more about modeling in SH3d. I could do basic shapes. But will learn more on it. Thanks. 2. I'm for sure going to put window only on stairs room. the whole idea is , it should look like this... or 3. I placed Lavatory/Sink outside that bath/toilet intentionally as per my society's living habbits. People dont like to get into washroom just to wash hands before lunch/dinner. This sink is handy outside for quick washing of hands or face. But still I will see the possiblities. Thanks for the suggestion. As I stated earlier, I'm not pretty good with sh3d. So working out on elevations with it may not be a cup of my tea. I might use Sketchup to create external designs. I really will be thankful if you guys can help me make some good looking elevation in 3d. Regards,.. Darshiit |
