Staircase templates
I often have difficulty finding the right staircase for my projects, but i think i have a solution that has universal appeal...

What the default library could use is a staircase template, made of 2 steps or 3, using a standard height for risers. That way users can add them, and elevate them for exactly the right height the stairs must climb.

Since railings can be hidden by making their textures invisible, i thought we could create railings right on these stair templates.
The only problem with that is that you may want a different style of railing based on your vision. So the solution for that is to set up railing templates as well, with numerous styles of banisters as well as banister transitions (such as top of stair well, flourishes, etc).

I hope someone sees the value in setting up such a project. I would do it myself, but i have abandoned 3D modeling because of the time it takes for me when i have so many other projects going.

Maybe after we get a couple of straight stair templates set up, we can then model stair templates that are curved -- maybe 10°, 15°, 22.5°, etc.

Does anyone have the time or ambition? biggrin

Re: Staircase templates
Visit https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/, search for "steps" or "3 step stairs" or something like this, then look for a railing you like, combine it in SH3D, save it as an obj-file and reimport it. This is work for about 10 minutes and the result is exactly what you are looking for.
