I see red! What happened? Hello Community, i'm trying SweetHome3d for a couple of weeks now - what a cool tool!!! Thanx to all developers!!! But yesterday it happened that i opened my file, and the 3d shows all chosen textures and furniture in red. Changes cannot be saved ("couldn't save file.....) except if you save under a new name. All chosen furniture is marked with a little red cross.....what's going on ??? Could it be that a piece of my imported furniture isn't programmed correctly in such a way, that it jams the rest too??? Any ideas? Max [Note: this thread was started on sourceforge.net forums] |

Re: I see red! What happened? Sorry for the problem. First create a backup of your file, even if it doesn't work correctly. Then, check if you use Sweet Home 3D 1.4, because there was a small bug about saving wrong SH3D files and I fixed it again in that version (see https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?fun...id=152568&atid=784665 ). This bug fix won't repair your file, but at least it shouldn't happen anymore. I didn't find yet what could cause this problem. It's maybe a software that cleans temp files ? I can try to restore a part of your file. Please send it to [email protected] ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: I see red! What happened? Hello Emmanuel, nothing to be sorry about....it's freeware so we all give our share... I just mailed the file to you, if it is easy to fix, of course that would be nice, if not please let me know soon, so i have time to do it again. Thanx, Max |

Re: I see red! What happened? Max sent me his file, but miserably I couldn't repair his file. Here's the solution I proposed him to avoid him to create again all his home: 1. Open the corrupted file 2. Click on plan to set focus in it, and choose "Edit > Select All" menu item (Ctrl + A) 3. Choose "Edit > Copy" menu item 4. Open a new home with "File > New" menu item 5. Click on plan to set focus in the new plan, and choose "Edit > Paste" menu item 6. Items will be still red in the new home, but all the walls and dimensions are nevertheless correct. Then, set again the texture of the floor, the texture of the walls, and replace each red object by one of the catalog. Once done, remove the red objects. To sum up make the "red" disappear. 7. Once there's no more red, you can save your new home. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: I see red! What happened? Be very careful when using registry cleaners/optimizers, for in earlier versions of SH3D, the red x's will abound. |

Re: I see red! What happened? All new imported furniture are stored in temporary files, and then copied to application directory. If a system tool empties temporary directory, it's true that you may get some problems. I'll try to fix that in a future version. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: I see red! What happened? Yep, i guess that was it!!! I think it was my Spybot 1.6 asking me if he were allowed to wipe my temp-files....... unhappyness sometimes is just one click away....;-( Maybe the Spybot-Gang could add a note to this feature mentioning possible problems with wiped-out temp-files. Well i guess indeed it would be a good idea to save the projects in a "safe" folder.... hope its not toooo much programming work. Greetings & Thanx, Max P.S. Emmanuel: I didn#t recieve any mail from you - probably didn't pass my spam-filter. |
