Lamps and light - Beginner's questions

Hi,
I've found so many threads with sophisticated questions and solutions.

But as a beginner, I'm stuck on a very simple question:
How do I make the lamps in the Furniture Library light up?

I've created a nice apartment, including furniture, and everything looks great.

But then I tried adding various lamps to my project and setting the light to 50% (lower right edge in the ...

Copy / Paste Between Files

Several versions ago (probably in the 5.x range or so), it used to be possible to copy and paste a selection from one design into another file that's open via a second instance of Sweethome3D. I can't seem to do this anymore, but I can't recall when the behavior changed.

Is there any way to accomplish this or something similar in 7.1?

I have several versions of a design that ...

glase pane in door

Hi, I like to have a transparent glass pane in a green door. I found a post from rcheng in 2014 on this subject and Hans Dirkse gave the solution by means of a link. But the link is broken.
I tried to reply on the original post, but it does'nt work either.
Who can help?

I'm very new to Sweet Home and is trying to design my own kitchen. I'm looking for 2 things, and have trouble finding them:
1. a simple glass panel which allows me the flexibility to resize in anyway I want.
2. a sliding door that is simply glass with no door frame.

Can anyone please help?

Thank you so much!!

How to put UI panels back to their original order

I'm not sure what forum to ask this in, but hopefully somebody can help.

I've been using SweetHome3D for well over a year on Arch Linux. Recently, I started up the application and all the panels on the UI were swapped: The furniture selector and furniture list are now on the right, with the furniture list on top and furniture selector on bottom. The 2d drawing and 3d rendering on the ...

For those how would like to move the center point in the aerial view, this is how I do it:

1. In the 3D window in aerial view, with right mouse down move the mouse up until you are straight on top of the center point.

2. In the design window, put any furniture as "Center point control object". Now move that furniture around the other objects and you see the center point moving in ...

Modern rugs making a difference in layouts

I have been using Sweet Home 3D to experiment with different layouts lately and one thing I did not expect to matter this much is rugs, especially modern ones.

I started adding a few simple geometric rugs into my floor plans just to see how they looked, and it actually helped define spaces way better than I thought. In open layouts, a modern rug almost acts like a visual boundary between areas ...

Importing OBJ file in Sweethome3D

Hello there.

I just bought a 3D model of a stove at CGTrader. The download section proposes .MAX, .OBJ, and an additional maps.rar file.

When importing the OBJ file in Sweethome3D, the wood burning stove is all gray. There are no texture. I guess the maps.rar contains textures and details ? How can I have the full object imported in Sweethome3D ?

Quick workflow: convert 3MF to STL for cleaner import?

Hi everyone,

When I receive a .3mf model and need broader compatibility in slicers / old workflows, I usually convert it to .stl first, then import and rescale/check normals.

My quick checklist:
1) Open the 3MF and verify units (mm vs inch)
2) Export to STL
3) Re-import STL and check orientation + wall thickness
4) Slice a tiny test section before full print

I made a small free ...
