I know it's an old thread but I had the same problem and found a workaround that does not require the CopyAsNewFurniture plugin.
Do the same steps as in Hans' tutorial and select the walls, but instead of CopyAsNewFurniture, choose "Export to OBJ format" under the "3D View" menu. It will prompt you ...
