Hello everybody,
after some time of housebuilding I am back to Sweet Home to do some additional planning.
At the moment, I am wondering if there is a possibility to calculate the perimeter of a room (that means to add all lengths of walls in this room) - this would be a great thing if you look for ...

Re: Change center-position in 3D aerial mode
Maybe pial, Ivedin and myself are the only ones that think this way? I agree 100% to your explanations (elevated virtual visitor is nice but definitely not as useful as aerial view is).

RIGHT! And why not making a good software ...

Re: Change center-position in 3D aerial mode
I think that behind the debate of centering the scene or not, (which has a partial solution by adding objects on the edge), there is a bigger drawback that is the zoom limit.
As you build an environment around your house, it becomes impossible to zoom in and turn around your kitchen for exemple ...

Re: Change center-position in 3D aerial mode
Pierre, I agree 100%. Although I understand Emmanuel's point of view, it is neither intuitive nor effective to have the center forced to be in the middle of the bounding box of all created objects. But I will not give up hope for this feature next to be implemented

Re: Simple keyboard shortcuts
The user interfaces of many (many...) popular programs support this idea (I think all graphic/photo editors like Photoshop, Gimp...), so I think it can not be wrong.
I don't know exactly what you mean by "edit text directly in the plan view" - but the "normal" way would be to

Simple keyboard shortcuts
I think it would be very effective to use "single key shortcuts" for the key features, for example...
- select: "s"
- draw wall "w"
- create room "r"
- dimension tool "d"
- move "m"
- zoom in numpad "+"
- zoom out numpad "-"
- text "t"
This would allow to switch between the modes with one single ...

Strange behaviour when zooming
I have been working with SH for some days, and now I am noticing a strange behaviour when zooming in:
For example, an item (furniture object or a wall) is selected and in the middle of the screen at (36, 36) .
When clicking at the zoom in (or ctrl+mouse wheel up) to zoom in, the visible area moves ...

Re: Ways to get a better 3D view / Export to SketchUp and Google Earth
Until now, the ceiling computing works for simple slopping walls only.
..and that's a great feature and far more than I would have expected. Now that I found out that I simply have to disable that for the rooms under the roof, the export obj > kmz > sketchup works great (direct way obj > sketchup ...

Re: Ways to get a better 3D view / Export to SketchUp and Google Earth
Edit: meanwhile I found out that the "wrong lines" in the topmost level occur when the option "draw ceilings" is activated - with this, Sweet Home tries to find corresponding points to draw a correct projection of the floor which has to go wrong if floor and ceiling are not parallel.
So be careful ...

Re: How to: Create HQ images with Blender
Even if you may find a few users here that knows Blender, I guess you'll get faster some information on a Blender forum.
By the way, even if I know the photo creation tool isn't perfect, why do you prefer to try with Blender?
