I would suggest to add PDF format file at the list of formats to import a background image. Currently, it is possible to import BMP, GIF, JPG, PNG but with PDF format it would be possible import 2D plans from CAD software like CADEMIA (http://www.cademia.org/)in a more efficient workflow.
