You should export each component individually, as follows:
- select one component
- export it using 3D view --> Export to OBJ format
- give it a name
- choose Export selection

You can then choose to individually import each model, or make a library file using the Library editor.
Once you have imported the individual components, you can use them as standard parts to build other models.
