I was rather thinking of the render related controls, which now has disappeared and only some of them can be changed by the .ini file while others seems to have become some way hardcoded settings, as for example "compute glass transparency" or "use light angle as power knob".
compute glass transparency became useless because the bug that prevented the light to go through glass was fixed in version 3.0.
use light angle as power knob was a workaround to control light power and was replaced by the light power value available for lights in the furniture modification dialog.
