Q2 - You can change the size and colours of staircases, or make parts invisible. You can also flip (mirror) the model. You can't change the model itself, e.g. add extra steps to a staircase.
Q1 - You can build your own model using boxes, triangles, etc. Then export it, import it and mark it as a staircase during importation. Read the User Guide.
