Judging by the speed of development, this problem should soon be corrected .Till then,a suggestion:

You can instal any of the free ODF printers - pdf995, pdfcreator, pdfExplorer...This should allow you to "print" PDF files.

Some of them even allow you to print as SVG. So you can open it in Inkscape (OS: at www.inkscape.org), add textures, etc, as you wish. And print/export-to-PDF.
