You can select one portion of the split wall and Edit > Cut then Edit > Paste. It will reappear where it was originally, but no longer connected to its other portions.

If there is an easier way, I'd love to know too.

Unfortunately it's not possible to completely hide the tab of hidden levels using a Plug-In.
