Have you tried the Sketchup Warehouse yet? As I am sure you already know, models in DAE format can be directly imported as furniture.

I've just recently been using Sweet Home 3D for some projects and really enjoying the experience. The only problem I'm having is finding some additional 3D models that will import into this program.
