Is it possible to add an option to edit lenght of each side of the wall then? I think that in that case it would be possible to achieve what OP wants. Btw I suffer from that too:(

So am I right by saying that there is no easy way to draw precise rectangle only using mouse or keyboard (room tool)? I can't see any visual helpers appearing when I draw room, no tool tips:(
