Re: Taking too much time to render. Can someone help please? The current renderers (SunFlow & YafaRay) use the CPU for rendering, not the GPU so it's no surpise that the GPU load is low. What you can try is to increase the amount of memory Sweet Home 3D is allowed to use. This might avoid some swapping and should increase the overall speed. How-to is described here: http://www.sweethome3d.com/faq.jsp#increaseMaxMemory The time needed to render mainly depends on the complexity of what you render. A tree takes a lot longer than a simple box. Textures take more time than colors. If you can simplify the scene you want to render this should help more than anything else you can do. ---------------------------------------- Dodecagon.nl 1300+ 3D models, manuals, and projects |

Re: Taking too much time to render. Can someone help please? General tips to reduce render times: - use small models (in Kb) with low poly count (e.g. avoid trees/plants) - use few light sources - avoid mirrored and/or transparent surfaces/objects - make invisible what is not in the image (models/levels) - use no or small textures (512x512 pixels is generally enough) H ---------------------------------------- Hans new website - under constuction hansdirkse.info |

Re: Taking too much time to render. Can someone help please? Hi, I'm connecting to this post, I took back my file of my house with garden after 2 years because I made some changes. It's a 200mb file but, I remember that it took me 15/20 minutes to render Now for the same file it takes more than 1 hour. I don't understand why. I always use the same PC, so could it be that there is some difference in the program after 2 years of updates? I'm thinking of trying an old release to see if it was lighter. |

Re: Taking too much time to render. Can someone help please? Run again the installation program and select the 64 bit architecture when prompted. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: Taking too much time to render. Can someone help please? Hi, if the answer was for me, the installation is already 64bit |

Re: Taking too much time to render. Can someone help please? Did you select YafaRay rendering engine? ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: Taking too much time to render. Can someone help please? I use Sunflow, I'll try to do some tests with YafaRay. Then I'll let you know how they went. thanks |

Re: Taking too much time to render. Can someone help please? Did you try to render at the same resolution as before? A higher resolution takes longer to render. Unless you know what resolution you used for the old rendering it's easy to make the 'mistake' of trying to render with a higher resolution. ---------------------------------------- Dodecagon.nl 1300+ 3D models, manuals, and projects |

Re: Taking too much time to render. Can someone help please? Yes, I'm sure of the same resolutions because I save a scrren of the settings I use. I also tried with YafaRay engine but it takes longer. As soon as I can I try to load an older release just to do a further test. |
