exterior-door-03.zip
exterior-door-03.zip door imported as "door" but not rendered as door in 2D view.

In 3D view it works like expected.

Re: exterior-door-03.zip
If you import an object, checking the Door/Window checkbox, it will adjust to the walls and cut the correct opening. It will also behave like a door in the 2D view, but if you want the 2D view to display the door opening etc, you need to use a door which also supplies these properties (like the ones in the pre-installed collection). The file you mention, is an .obj file which does not support such extra features (wall thickness, door opening/angle, etc).

ok

PS. It is possible to add the extra features, but you must do it yourself by imporint the model into a library and edit the PluginFurnitureCatalog.properties. This thread will explain the properties you need to add: http://www.sweethome3d.com/support/forum/view...d,2006_lastpage,yes#17627

Re: exterior-door-03.zip
Thanks for the hint!

Tried:

  • Art of Illusion: Setup hangs on step 7/8
  • Furniture Library Editor: Just a "converter" utility, but no designer?
  • Blender: Seems to be complex app.

Exists there a 3D model designer which as easy to use as SH3D?

Short answer, no :-( - see this thread and lots of other threads.

AoI, Blender, Sketchup, Wings 3D - and then obviously commercial ones - matter of preference. All 3D modelling software will require some patience in the learning process.

Furniture Library Editor: Just a "converter"..

The Furniture Library Editor is a furniture library editor smile it deals with libraries of models: converts, scales, lets you add cut-outs etc. but not designer.

Note that for the door swing you wish to display in the 2D win, you need only an editor - PluginFurnitureCatalog.properties is a (zipped) plain vanilla ascii file specifying properties of library elements.
