Mirrors and Transparency
GaudiGalopin3324 has achieved some amazing results towards rough metal sheen. He shared them with us and also kept my spirits up when I was about to give up.
Coming soon
Now it's time to actually produce the first parts and apply the findings about surface finish. The ...

Re: Chromium / Stainless / Metal in General - still not made it
THX for the encouragement! With your corrections to the study, it works for me, too. Very helpful. Now at least I know my system works properly.
Nevertheless, I will concentrate more on the geometry of the parts. Probably I'll come back to surface finishing later. It's quite exciting after all ...

Re: Chromium / Stainless / Metal in General - still not made it
Congratulations to your achievement, GaudiGalopin3324. I didn't succeed. All I get is always that wellknown blend of diffuse and sharp mirror.

Re: Chromium / Stainless / Metal in General
First of all, in an attempt to play with the new discovery, I failed to find the yafaray render properties dialogue you posted. Does it take a hack to reveal it? Probably, It's once more just too late at night for me to spot it.
Second, I'm curious about the behaviour when the texture has an alpha ...

Re: New to SH and looking for model prmitives
SH3D is great at easily modelling and visualizing buildings and their interior. It is not trying to be a generic modeller. This limitation is really its advantage, as the tool can be kept simple this way.
That said, I figured 3 ways to obtain models for interior objects, in SH3D generally called ...

Stop thrilling! It's tearing me apart![@-)]
Did you manage to make Ns effective?
New Version of yafaray? Other Renderer?
Magic group name prefix? Some Config setting nobody knows?
Or even a code patch?
What's the solution?

Re: Stair builder
Dorin is adding some extra features. That's the beauty of open source software! Indeed it is. Plus some more advantages. I wish I could clone several instances of myself, like in a parametric CAD system. One of them would learn python, one java and together they would support a third one in ...

Re: Chromium / Stainless / Metal in General
Background : Shininess in reality is a blurred reflection, similar to looking at a lamp through slightly frosted glass.

Re: Publishing Models of Protected Designs
To make it really perfect the ends need a little bevel that gets rounded with smoothing. But that is something you would only see in a real close-up view. Easy to create if you don't need it texturable but use it with white and the mirror effect to get chrome.
