How to add a door at a specific offset from an adjacent wall?
I'm curious if this is possible, if the experienced users have found a trick to accomplish this.
Picture two adjacent walls, A and B. I add a door to A and want to position its edge a specific distance from the surface of B. How?
- I can add a measurement starting at the surface of B by hovering on the line colinear with the surface of B. SH3D will helpfully draw a red dashdotted line from the cursor through the surface of B past the edge of B to let me know I'm colinear. Then I can click to start the measurement, press enter, type the specific length of the measurement, and click to finish. To get the edge of my door to line up with the edge of that measurement, though, I have to drag it and eyeball it. Is there a way I can snap the edge of the door to the edge of a measurement?
- If I'm holding the left mouse button to position the door, and the cursor is near the side of the wall that meets B, then SH3D will draw a red measurement from the edge of the door to the surface of B, labeled with its length. I can drag the door until that length matches what I want, unless I'm zoomed too far out, because the increments depend on the zoom. Then I can release it in place hoping that I didn't slip at the last second. Is there a way I can just type in that offset?
