Manual Shapes vs OBJ Stairs

I have manually constructed a staircase using a combination of angled steps from floor shapes exported to OBJ and rectangular step shapes from boxes within my SH3D level. Ignoring the fact that I’m using an invisible box, set with the stairs property to cut though floors -if I were to group all my staircase pieces (13 steps and side wall trim) and export as a complete OBJ object, and import as furniture would that be any more efficient than the raw model is for 3D view and/or rendering?

Re: Manual Shapes vs OBJ Stairs

It would be more efficient only if you edited the OBJ file to group shapes by material.

Re: Manual Shapes vs OBJ Stairs

Ok cool so my steps and step side panels are all the same wood texture. But my materials you mean if sections are obj or not right? What if they are one or the other as a complete set - obj vs box made? Also if I were to export the staircase as obj to import as one furniture item, the main drawback is the 2D view display which renders it blurry. For example the angled steps and sides near the top (steps 10, 11, 12) being created from floors 1.5 thick, when textured and imported back as furniture are rendered blurry around the edges while the rest of the steps created from the box item in the library look sharp and crisp. Just an annoyance in 2D view. 3D view looks perfect. Thanks for your quick response.
