Inserting steps and staircase
Hit, I have a house with two storeys and I am attempting to enter a staircase to connect the two.
My problem: The objects available do not suit my purpose, that is I can't modify them to fit in to the space between the floors available.
Q1: How can I build a staircase made up of steps which turn approx. 90° two thirds of the way down with a bannister on the left wall going down? The steps are between two walls.
Q2: How can the stair objects available in 3D be adapted to suit the position and the shape of the space available at the ground floor and where the stairs end, at the 1st floor?

Q2 - You can change the size and colours of staircases, or make parts invisible. You can also flip (mirror) the model. You can't change the model itself, e.g. add extra steps to a staircase. Q1 - You can build your own model using boxes, triangles, etc. Then export it, import it and mark it as a staircase during importation. Read the User Guide.

Re: Inserting steps and staircase
There is Art of Illusion recommended on this site. Plus a number of free softwares listed in this article: https://all3dp.com/1/free-3d-modeling-software-free-3d-design-software-3d-cad/ I tried a number of them, some doesn't work on my computer (low end Intel graphics card), some are broken (bad registration process), I was a bit successful with Art of Illusion (after deactivating OpenGL), DesignSpark Mechanical (made a primitive cheminey with it), I plan to try Wings 3D.

Re: Inserting steps and staircase
I hate the learning curve of most 3D programs, as they have a lot of features (and the accompanying GUI) that i dont use. Blender is the worst of the free ones, but AoI is the easiest. It's still a little hard to get used to, but it has a simple interface (altho no support). Still, AoI is tried and true and works for the most part at creating complex architectural pieces for your SH3D home. The texturing and material use is hit or miss and takes a lot of trial and error. My advice is add flat pieces -- don't extrude or manipulate primitives, so the textures don't blur or streak when importing to SH3D.
