How To: Sunlight through window

Basic question: I have a window in my model, and I would like to see what the room looks like with and without sunlight coming through. Right now, I added an incandescent light source on the outer side of the window, and made it the same width as that. And I know that I can change the amount of light (power)coming from that source, for different times of the day.

Is this the best way to do this? When I take a photo of the room with different powers, I don't see too much difference (obviously there is a significant difference between full power and no power).

Any help appreciated.

TIA

On a side note:

This is a bathroom that I want to remodel. The window sets on one side of the room above a bathtub. There is enough light through that window to light up the room (during the day). On the opposite wall is a row of lights above a mirror. I am replacing the tub with a shower stall. And when I did the first model of this, I could tell that: 1) during the day, the rest of the room became dark, since the new stall would block light from the window into the rest of the room; 2) at night, even with the lights on, the shower stall was very dark. I would never have noticed this unless I had used sh3d to do a model of the room.

So, thanks to all of you - past, present, and future - who have created this great tool!

Re: How To: Sunlight through window

As far as I know, in SH3D, glass filters out more light than in real life.

You can replicate the sun settings by (1) orienting the compass correctly and (2) setting date and time.

Re: How To: Sunlight through window

Thanks. What I expected.

But another question on a related topic. How do I model a light fixture that includes the light (and power level)? There are several lamps like this. I have modeled a light bulb with glass material in blender, imported it into sh3d. But if I put a light source inside of it, no light shows. I guess sh3d probably doesn't know the material is transparent. I made the glass material invisible, which worked, but I lost the shape, which I would like to keep. Would a texture of semi-transparent work? Say an alpha channel of 25%.

Thanks for your help.
