Invisible object in virtual visit

Hello :-)

A few minutes ago I made a 3D model, that should be part of an attempt to "build" a church, or something similar.

In Misfit3D I made a dome with a stone texture.
In SH3D I made an octagon from thick walls and inserted some arches.
The dome goes on top of the arches.

When looking at my model with virtual visit from the outside everything is OK: I can see the walls, arches and dome, including the textures. But when I place the viewpoint inside the model and then look upwards, the dome is invisible.

Any suggestions how to solve this are welcome.

Hans

Re: Invisible object in virtual visit

The faces of an object are visible only from one side, that's why there's the check box Invert back and front faces in the second step of the furniture import wizard. If you import again your dome and select that check box you won't see it from outside anymore but you'll see the dome from below. If you place this dome and the dome you already imported at the same location with the same size, this will do the trick.

A better workaround should be to duplicate your dome in Misfit3D, then invert the normals of the copied dome to make it visible from below (3D programs generally have this option and the check box Invert back and front faces is just another way to express it).

I could also add a check box Show back and front faces in the furniture import wizard to avoid this kind of problem, but I don't know its limitations. Please add a feature request to remind me to study this option...
