How to make transparent textures
Hello all :-)
Does anyone have a suggestion how you can make semi-transparent textures?
I can think of several scenarios: - Partially transparent walls: here I want to apply a texture to a wall. Where the GIF or PNG image is transparent, the wall should be transparent as well. - Partially transparent objects: let's say I create a cube with a texture applied to one face. Where the image is transparent the cube should be transparent as well.
I tried some variations, but sofar without success. Hopefully someone has good suggestions.

If you only have a single image you want to convert there are many online sites where you can do easily this for free.
I always use GIMP. Basicly you add and aphachannel to the image and set the transparency to a selected color. The link I gave also explains how to remove a background for an image using different graphics programs.
Remember to save in a format that supports transparency, for example PNG. (JPG doesn't support transparency.)
