Furniture model import

First, thanks for an outstanding product.

I appear to be doing something wrong. I have SH3d 2.1 installed on Java 1.6.0_16. I downloaded several furniture images from sweethome3d.eu and imported them. The import behaved exactly the same each time with the exception of the sizes being very small (<1" in most dimensions). When I looked back at the list of furniture there is just a black box instead of the furniture image. When I insert them into my plan they don't show up in the virtual visit and there is no reference image of the item.

What I am doing wrong?
Can I remove these bad imports from my install?

Thanks for your patience and assistance.

Re: Furniture model import

Mike:

While importing a model you have the opportunity (in the 3rd screen) to define its measures. When you already imported the model, select it in the model list, do a right-click and select MODIFY. You then enter the same sequence as when importing.

In the 3rd screen enter a guesstimate of your model's dimensions.

That's all. Good luck.

Re: Furniture model import

Hans,

Thanks for the tip. I had previously tried to modify the size of the imported models with no changes in the results. I then re-imported the models and changed the size in the import process. This simply resulted in a second black square in the bathrooms section.

Re: Furniture model import

I changed the way the icon of an imported piece is created.
If you want to test it, please try version 2.3 Beta .

Re: Furniture model import

Thank you. I have opened my plan with the latest beta with no change in the results. I can display the items in the plan correctly as I must have had them too low or turned the wrong direction or the wrong color. With the latest version I do not get the model displayed as part of the import process. This is different from the previous version's behavior.

The latest version won't create again the wrong icons, unless you modify their piece.

Sorry, I'm not sure about you mean. Do you mean you can't see the model you import?
On which system are you using Sweet Home 3D?

Re: Furniture model import

My apologies for being unclear. In the previous attempts to import the furniture models I would see the model during the import wizard, but it would not show the icon in the list or on the plan once the import was complete. With the beta version I do not see the models displayed in the import wizard. I am running WinXP SP3 32bit on an Acer laptop with an SIS graphics card. Thanks.

Re: Furniture model import

You may have forgotten to check the option Add to catalog in the 3rd step of the importation wizard.
This option appears depending on the focused view when you start to import (the part of the window surrounded with a colored ring): if the focused view is the furniture catalog, then you will import a model in furniture catalog ; otherwise you will import a model in the home plan, and eventually in the furniture catalog if you check the option Add to catalog.

Re: Furniture model import

I do see all the imported models in the catalog so I may have accidentally avoided that error. With the newest version I do not see any models in the importation wizard just black boxes. How can I remove teh items form the existing catalog to see if I can successfully re-import them?

Re: Furniture model import

To remove an imported model from the catalog, simply select it and choose delete.
