Re: Backlit or focused light on Movie Poster
You can try the following:
Export you poster as obj/mtl files. Edit the mtl file and find the block with your poster. This will be the block that has a map_Kd line with the imagefile of your poster listed after 'map_Kd'. (It's possible that there is only one block.) Add a line with d 0.9 to this block. This will give the poster a little transparency for the light to shine through. Drag the obj file in your 2D pane, this will import the poster with the edited mtl file.
Create a thin box (using boxes) around your poster. Use the poster as the front of the box. Put a lightpanel against the backside of the box pointing towards the backside of the poster. Set the light power of the lightpanel to a low value, 5%.
Now you can render a photo and the light of the panel will shine a little through your poster without spilling light outside because it is enclosed in the box.
Play with the transparency setting of the poster in the mtl file and the light power setting of the lightpanel to get the result you want. (you have to import again if you change the mtl file).
On this web page there is an explanation how the same is done with transparent letters. The bottom few paragraphs of the how-to example places them in a box with a lightpanel.
Solution 2 (easier and maybe better): More or less the same but you use an invisible light panel and you switch the position of the poster and panel. Place the poster against the backside of the box and the invisible light panel as the front but just inside the box and pointing towards the poster. This will give a better result in a day light setting when you render a photo and you don't have to change the transparency of the poster. Because the lightpanel is (barely) inside the box it will only light towards the poster and not spill to the sides. The box around the poster can be thin, 2-5 cm deep. Experiment what looks best for you. The lightpanel lights the inside of the box. This box is 5cm deep to show this. You can make a thinner box to reduce the visible inside of the box.

Don't suppose you have that example project you could share?
It's part of a larger project with Retail Shop models. I'll see if I can optimize them and add them to the Shop library available on dodecagon.nl. Maybe later today.

Displays are added to the Shop library. See the Dodecagon forum thread: https://sweethome3d.com/support/forum/viewthr...,13236_lastpage,yes#63602 Import the library after you download it from dodecagon.nl. Drag one of the displays into your 2D pane. Modify Object to set a texture containing your poster on the Poster property.
