OBJ to SKP File
I have a couple custom .obj models I made for SH3D of some 1957 retro cabinets. I was thinking about uploading them to 3D Warehouse but it has to be .skp format. What is a good converter to use that won't botch them up?

Why not upload them to the Sweet Home 3D free models page ? You can even compile them into a library and offer that for download.

Re: OBJ to SKP File
Here are the 2 scale furniture models that I made for an earlier version of my 3D home. After our real life kitchen remodel since it is modern gray and silver color scheme, I had to re-paint our living room to a modern look that doesn't clash so our retro mid-century modern stuff had to go. Anyway I have to go look at the SH3D models page to see what the upload format should be in case it doesn't accept OBJ or maybe it does. Can I upload to both or are things submitted here exclusive to basically be SH3D property. I just want to give them away if anyone is interested in retro furniture models for their projects.

Re: OBJ to SKP File
You are free to upload to both sites, or even others if you want. There is no exclusivity. The Sweet Home 3D free models site is a sourceforge site. You can upload almost anything you want, like zipfiles, obj/mtl model files, sh3f/sh3t libraries, sh3d project files, and images (although they don't like hot-linking images). The only limit (I think) is size. If I remember correctly there was a thread where it was mentioned that a plugin or project was too big and couldn't be uploaded. That shouldn't be a problem for furniture models.
For furniture models: zip the obj file, mtl file, and texture images (if any) into a single zip file per model. Sweet Home 3D can import the zip without first unzipping it.
For sh3d project files: use "Save and compress" from the file menu to save the project as a much smaller file before upload.
For images: make sure they aren't too big. If necessary scale them down with something like GIMP. Sourceforge officially doesn't allow hot-linking to images (show the image on the forum by using a url to the image on sourceforge) but so far I haven't found that they enforce the rule. I forgot to add this: You should choose and add a license for your models. If you don't know what license to add you can use this creativecommons webpage to help you make a choice. That site also explains the rest about licenses.

Re: OBJ to SKP File
Thanks. I do already have them in a compressed ZIP file as you said. What is proper to do with Attribution? I want them to be free, etc., but not sure about commercial use considerations.
"Yes. Anyone using my work must include proper attribution."
"No. Anyone can use my work, even without giving me attribution."

It depends on what you want. You want them to be free. But do you want the recognition that you created them? It can (partially) avoid that someone else redistributes them and says he created them, maybe even sell them. It requires that you follow up on infringements and take action against it. That's why I distribute all my models in the public domain (CC0 1.0 Universal). Someone can still try to copy and sell them but I can't be bothered by it. If I see it somewhere I can report it but I am not going to waste time with witch hunts against offenders. By clearly distributing my models in the public domain (see dodecagon.nl) I can avoid most wannabe's that will try to make money from them.
